16v, Service Light

Featured Replies

I have a 1999 T reg 16v, and i need to turn off the service inspection light. I think the later 16vs are sorted a different way to pre-'99. Anyone know?

Cheers.

don't think so mate

try turning ignition on first click so dash lights come on then holding down the odometer reset button it will flash oil service keep hold then it goes clear again

hope this helps

On the 8V, you hold down the odometer button for about 5-10 seconds without the ignition on, then while still holding your finger on the odometer reset button, turn the key until the dash lights come on, and keep your finger on the button till the service thing disappears.

This worked for me....

ignition off

press and hold in the button next to the speedo

ignition on

release button

press and release button the word "insp" will show in trip recorder

for cars with digital clock turn the button nearest rev counter to the right until dashes appear in display

for cars with analogue clock pull out the button next to rev counter until dashes appear in display

to reset the oil warning

ignition off

press and hold button next to speedo

ignition on

release button the word "oil" will be in display

for cars with digital clock turn the button next to rev counter to the right until dashes appear

for cars with analogue clocks pull out the button next to rev counter until dashes appear

Later 16v's are exactly the same as pe-99 ones. I have a 2000 V reg 16v and its the same procedure for service light reset as is described above.

I have a 98 1.4 16V and the service 'INSP' message flashes up constantly, I have tried the above method, but I can't for the life of me reset the light. I can't get any dashes or 'oil' messages to appear the 'Service INSP' just continues to flash up. Any other methods out there?

*Edit to say ignore my username I now drive a 1.4 16v mk4

try this way

INSP- Inspection Service

Press & hold the button located under the speedo

Switch Ign on

Keep the button pressed untill"---" appears in the display

Release the button

Switch Ign off

If required clear the Oil indicator by using the same method

best wishes
