Bilco's Mk'2 Eaton G Saloon

Featured Replies

right, well where do i start...

thought i would start a project thread as some of you may be interested and it may also be helpful as i get further into the project (i hope) plus i cannot find another mk2 saloon with a valver on 600cc carbs conversion (although i may be proved wrong)

But anyway...

it all started when i destroyed 2 drive side inner CV joints within quick succession and after being advised to change the whole box 'just incase' i thought oh stuff it ill change the whole engine as i was considering it anyway...

so the plans for the bay so far are 1.4 16v engine fitted with 600cc carbs, 421 manifold, uprated coil, P+P'd head ,all for the power but it has too look nice aswell so plans for this part are chrome rocker cover, blue ht leads, blue hoses where applicable, chrome brackets for coil and various over parts as i come across them, repainted block and gear box, red upper strut brace, lower strut brace, engine compartment all cleaned up and tidy.

i also have an engine spinner to mount it on before fitting it so it will be having a damn good going over, timing belt etc

these are the main plans so far so watch this space...there will be more

heres a few pics of progress so far, i shall keep updated as and when i make progress

now I've started stripping the engine down

CV joints disconnected

so the current engine is now ready to be pulled out when i source a donor engine and its ready to be fitted, all i need to do is unbolt the engine mounts

so this is my project and i hope you all like her because i love it

btw shes called veronica! so be kind she has feelings

where has the head been sent for work? and how much did this set you back?

  • Author

i shall be sending it to a company called headtune, they quoted £350 for gasflowing and a skim which seems fairly reasonable compared to other prices i have come across so far
