I finally made a start, even after a heavy drinking session Saturday. Had this car since the end of October last year.

Left it like that for now. Removed the exhaust and any broken parts aswell.

Will take the engine out at some point. I think my first job will be GT rear axle and rear disc conversion.

My doner car: I'm using this till May when the insurance and TAX run out.

Nice man the base car looks to be in good nick and that engine bay looks soo simple!

Depends which panels? Its a bad shell, i think only the bonnet, bootlid and drivers wing are in good nick, the other have dents and scratches. Around May time the car will be listed in the breaking section.

Polishing isn't really on the agenda as I may end up painting it.

The main jobs to be done next are removing the back axle, stripping all the underseal off the underside and inner arches and repaint it all in black stone guard.

Also painting all of the interior floor prior to fitting a load of fresh sound deadening/underlay before the carpets go back in.

Played a little with it today.

Got the wire brush out on the underside (Rear axle to the back around the spare wheel). The spare wheel well has had water sat in there for a while so it has suffered a little. Other the that its all surface rust.

Chucked some hammerite on there for now before i paint the whole underside in underseal.

Then painted the spare well and the floor under the carpet before i stick some new underlay down.

Also, what colour are you thinknig of painting her? Keep it monaco blue as this is a proper rare colour!

I'm keeping the dizzy, vacuum stuff incase i bike carb in the future, And i will use whatever else is needed to fit the AFH, when thats done i will probably offer the rest on here. The engine for all purposes is fine, only reason it was a non runner was a core plug popped out.

Still not sure on the paint. Its not in great nick and i need a new front valance fitted. I like the colour and realise it was only available for a short time so i wont do anything drastic. But the paint is the least of my worries. Mechanical things first.

lol you must be young all plates were like that once ABC 123 X , in this case X denoting 1 aug 1981 to 31 jul 82 , after y aug 82 to jul 83 it then reverted A 123 ABC on so forth next year being B 123 ABC etc , in kerrlys' case you take the DW from the reg which gives you the area in which it was first registered DW being cardiff. :-D

Played with it today, really need a pair of axle mounts to hurry things up.
