yup. i had one in my mk2. not sure on the wiring tho. theres a positive and negative that go to battery and ground respectively and iirc, 1 or 2 wires that go to the coil but i'm sure someone will clear that up for me.

I've probably still got my rev counter kicking about somewhere ???

i fitted an autoguage rev counter a few weeks back and it works fine.

on my autogauge rev counter i had four wires. i think most rev counters are similar to install but probably have different colour wires.

This is what colours i had from my rev counter and what wires i connected them to at the back of the instrument cluster:

Green: Tacho or coil negative: connects to red with black stripe wire.

Black: Earth: connects to brown wire.

Yellow: Battery live: connects to red wire which goes to relay/fuse box then turning to red/white

Red: Ignition Live: connects to black wire

i am pretty sure thats correct as i am working from memory. If you look in the haynes manual at the rear at the wiring diagram you can follow the wires to double check.

you will need a special set of prongs to pull the instrument cluster out, if you cannot get them, i think standard ford head unit keys are very similar and might do it, like ones out of mk4 fiestas and pumas

hope this helps

hi sorry to bring up this topic but i'm trying to fit an autogauge rev counter in my mk4 6n polo following this guide. except that there is no red/black wire (and i haven't seen red/white neither but i assume the red is the battery live)

can you help me with locating the coil negative/tacho wire?

thanks

anybody knows how to fit autogauge to 6n?

anyone please?

i want to fit that gauge tomorrow
