It has a servo mwahahahahaha eat my good brakes all you RHD coupe owners

anyway today i gave her a good wash and wax, will t-cut it when its a bit warmer...

cleaned out all the insides as all the dash and plastics were grubby, still gotta clean the mats and hoover it out...

soooo some piccies

and jobs still to do...

remove GTI and ABT badges from the front

clear shite off one of the headlights (was taped before)

clear random sticker off the back

pressed plates

SMALLER steering wheel as it feels like I'm driving a mofo'in barge

sort out some alloys for the slag

drop it on its ass, as I'm cheap i might just cut the springs to fuck

hoover the slag out

fit a decent stereo and some more speakerrrrrrrz

fit a relay'd and fused loom direct from battery for the lights, then tint those mofos and the rear

unsure of whether I'm keeping the rear seats, if i am i need to source rear seatbelts for it and a parcel shelf and a new drivers seats, if not ill just get some cheap harnesses and decent seats and strip the rear ooot. (need a new drivers seat as the mech to pull the seat forward doesnt work and it has a broken weld at the bottom so is slightly rocky

BUT an absolute stonking bargain for 200 quid with 12 months mot and 6 months tax

pikeytech are back in an olop

True GK engines have DIGINITION (Mapped electronic ignition) / Completely different airbox design

Few other hidden bits like big bore inlet manifold big carb, high comp pistons, angry camshaft

Thats most likely HK or maybe HH

Theres no such engine with a cc of 1263

Also pretty sure all GK's came with 5-speed boxes

i thought that about the 1263cc as none of the insurance companies stated that as an engine size it was 1276 iirc but i dont particularly haha!

not too worry tho dude, it shall be meeting the polo queen soon enough and ill find out exactly what lump it is....

whether its a GK, HK or HH I'm not too bothered, as long as shes runs and drives I'm happy :-D

Deffo looks like a HK engine to me, but to be honest, it's a total bargain. I was sorely tempted, but I have too many cars

forget the ns light, ill swap it for a certain rallye yellow mk2?

do rhd mk2s have the reversing light on the left? if so ill either get a uk spec right hand side rear light, or if i start mincing this beast out and tint the lights ill make sure you have the rear light before i go and spray it and break your heart

Yep, the lights were the other way round on RHD cars, hence why yours has an additional fog light under the bumper on the correct side of the car.

thinking of binning the foglight, not a big fan of it but at least it does its job of detracting attention away from the ghey towing hook...

you got a spare set of lights in good nick (ie no cracks) in polo land? if so i might come get them off you at some point before i go back to manc so i can tint those badboys and not mess these ones up

also got rear seatbelts and a black parcel shelf? also after a gear gaitor!

need to get a piccie of the doorcards because they are fubarring cool as fook!

oh and if i sell the golf soon ill be buying that other yellow coupe mk2 on the weller wheels, wish i had the cash now :(

Well you should be bothered, Gk engines have 75bhp as standard (11:1 compression, etc)

You wouldn't buy what you've been told is a GT and settle for finding out that it's a CL. Go throw some heavy things.

nawww I'm no bothered pal, i knew the GK engines had 75bhp but considering the car cost me 200 quid and I've only paid a quarter of that so far (which is less than the tax cost roj on monday) because I'm a skint ass student and have no pennies till student loan day i reckon I've done pretty well...

plus 75 raging horses in a polo is hardly going to set the world on fire so a missing 20 doesnt mean that much meee :p

plus the quieter and slower the car is, means the more reserved my driving is, i did miss the golf on the drive down but knew that i would have probably killed myself and my sister in a very loud and very fast blaze of purple burning metal haha

Sorry if this is off-topic, but what is the big deal with VWs and brake servos having to be on the driver's side of the engine bay? I was peering absent mindedly under the bonnet of my wife's Ford Ka while it was on the MOT ramp the other day, and the brake servo was on the passenger side.

they dont need to be on the drivers side, rhd mk1 golf gtis came with a linkage bar that connects the brake pedal up with the servo on the passenger side (they initially werent going to bother making a RHD model but some irish dude came over and showed the germans how to do it and so we got a RHD mk1 woop)

it means that the LHD mk1 golfs have a better servo feel as theres no linkage inbetween em but its not that bad. there is a chap whos thinking of mkaing a modified one which came from a mk1 fiesta iirc

DEbay is your friend for this car mate. GT conversion is a better idea than tuning this lump in my eyes, tho barney chose different and thats fair play... And yeah fair nuff, its an early mk3 its out of, but i remember DK ragging soime fat spline adaptor off it so i guess it won't fit. get a 22.2mm passat MC in there too!
