for a while now, when i turn the key in the hole of the drivers side, its done various different things like, click, clunk, not gone all the way----- then finally today it isn't doing anything at all.

i put the key in and nothing, it turns to left, turns to right but doesn't lock or unlock.

i can hear the motor inside make a slight noise when i turn it to the left to lock but the door pin stays up.

please help.

Hi Luke,

It is very likely that the paddle and castle spacer have snapped inside the lock mechanism. The replacement parts cost £5 from VW and it takes about 30 mins to do (if you're lucky!). Please scan the forum and you'll see numerous posts in the last few weeks regarding this on 6n2s.

Oh and here is a picture of the snapped bits (I've posted it before). Please let me know if you need detailed instructions, but, I've typed them so many times before!
