Hi guys, so I lowered my polo 80mm a while back anyway took it for an MOT today and it failed on a few things.

One being that the passenger driveshaft is rubbing on the chassis.

And the other one is that the track rod end where it bolts into the strut has been foaling on the inside of the suspension turret.

Am sure many of you have come across these problems before, whats the solution.

The first photo is sideways, as you can see the drive shaft had been failing the chassis a little

Hammer and chisel and problem solved (ignore the bit above the Tca this car was a lot lower than 80mm)

There are much more suitable tools to use for the job but I had run out of discs for the grinder and couldn't be arsed to go shopping for some

I'm surprised you've run in to this problem at such a relatively tame drop tho but then Ben seemed to have the same kind of issues when he first tried to drop his mk2f too. Maybe he will be able to shed any light on if any thing can be done that doesn't involved butchring the chassis

Ah well that's one idea, does this have any implication with the strength of the chassis.

And would this be classed as a chassis notch, I know chassis notch can be a nightmare with paper work.

Its not a notch, no... That is just the lip thats on the chassis leg. Any further and itd be a notch

Steering arms, just attack the inner wing with the grinder... its what i did.

Ah that's good then, going to attack it tomorrow if the rain holds off.

How exactly do you grind it. Have you got a picture of the finished result?
