Mk2 Polo Saloon GT

Featured Replies

Thinking about selling my Polo Saloon because i've put my classic Mini back on the road as it's cheaper to run tax/insure etc etc.

It is a 1990 Greg with about 65,000mls on it, the Gt engine has about 10'000mls more on it than the car.

I did the conversion a couple of years ago and it is unbelievable, the differance between a carb'd engine against the injected.

It was just mot'd last week, without needing a thing done to it other than the brakes checked over.

Its got Bilstein gas shocks all round with -40mm springs in the rear and on the front it has -40mm springs off a mk2 Golf, i've got front springs to match the rears which can go with the car. Also on the front it has G40 equivalent brakes with the vented discs which also made a hell of a differance when using them with a bit of enthusiasm.

The engine is standard other than a K&N filter in the air box and a straight through exhaust with a twin DTM tail pipe.

Inside, at the moment has some Recaro's that i have put in on some home made subframes which sit in the original Polo runners. I've still got the GT seats that i had in before which could go back in if need be.

I've also fitted the 3 VDO gauges out of an Audi into the dashboard above the heater controls and they all work.

Body wise it really is in good nick for a car of its age, the only bad bit (if you can call it that) is a dent in the Drivers side door which has been catching on the wing and has started to rust on the door. But i've got a good red door to replace it with.

Not really sure if i want to sell it or not but if the right money is on offer who knows?

Was this just the 1043cc carb engine before the conversion? What engine does the car have on the logbook?

Yes it was a 1043 before and it is still a 1043 on the logbook. Its easy enough to change the engine size when it goes to DVLA for change of ownership

Cheers

Ian

get you and your big spots!!!

Do you have a rough idea of price youre looking for?

This is the exact car I'm looking for at the min, buy only if the price turns my wallet on rather than just wanting to go right in there and rape it

Well i reckon its worth somewhere between £500 and £1000.

Obviously i'd like nearer £1000 than £500 but obviously its only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

hi mate anymore pics of the car interior, dent on car etc and where are you located

I'll get some better photos when i get chance when the weather is hopefully a bit better.

The car is taxed until end Feb 2009 and its just been mot'd on Friday so it got 12 months test.

The only bad bit on the bodywork is on the drivers door, which can just be seen on the photo, as i've said, i've got a spare red door that can go with it.

The spot lights on the front will not be sold on the car, they will be taken off.

I am in PENRITH. CUMBRIA.
