I am going to get some pressed plates, probably from theplateman, but i dont know how i will attach them to the car without drilling them?? Do i just use those little sticky-pad things?? Wouldnt the wind get under them?

lol.. sticky pads are fine. that or get a plate surround.. think they look pretty nice on a mk3.

Ye I'm not sure about the surrounds, i quite like the look of just plain and simple. Unbanded, etc. Thanks tho :)

Velcro

Would strong velcro work? I mean some velcro is really strong...

Also allows you to swap between license plates and show plates easily at shows...

And if the police pull you for having german plates, have some UK ones velcro'd in the boot... Can't say fairer than swapping them in front of them!

Has anyone got velcro'd plates? Would be handy to know...

yer quite a few people do but all i can think of with that and the same with sticky pads is people nicking them and usinmg them in car crime e.t.c? plate surrounds imo will be best

No more risk of that than someone unscrewing them IMO.

Velcro'd on plates is one of those things that police look at as being suspicious. It's not illegal, but they're not keen on it.

I had mine on with velcro

They fell of a few times so I screwed them on

velcro is a nice idea, just dont tell your mates or they will be forever be turning them upside down etc.

you will have to get some industrial velcro as normal stuff isnt up to it long term.

Surely if the police found out your plates are stuck on with velcro, this would arrise suspicion? It did on a tv programme I watched..then again it was on an old banger..

Yeah I'm thinking I might go for the surround route. I have surrounds on my golf, but the damn thing is broken a bit at the bottom.

I think if I get some this time round, it'll be those bendy type ones from the plate man

Velcro! Keep old plates in boot, if the police stop you, 'sorry officer I've come back from a VW meet and forgot to change them'. I know someone thats used this several times. I can't see them being worried if your plates are stuck on with Velcro especially if you demonstrate why they are.
