On A Ragga Tip - Beetle Ragtop

Featured Replies

Woop! it got delivered today :-D

78 LHD 1200 ragtop

I really wanted a 67 cabby, but couldnt find any decent ones in my price range :-(

Little life story of on a ragga tip, it was brought over to England from Germany by a German student at Manchester uni in 01. It was then just left in a carpark untill 04 untill the owner of the carpark sent off for the logbook. He got a visit from the German guy and police, asking what he was doing applying for the V5. There was a bit of a fuss but the German was basically saying that he wasnt going to let it go, so the carpark dude then said, "right, you owe me 3 years of storage fees" "the cars yours" said the German  and thats how it became registered in uk

He then did a bit of a resto on it and sold it as a non runner to the guy i bought it off, who then replaced a whole load of parts... (C&P from ad)

Brand new front brake discs and calipers

Brand new wheel bearings

Brand new carburetter

Brand new elctric fuel pump

Brand new starter motor

Brand new battery

Brand new Porsche headlamps (not fitted)

Brand new bumpers

Brand new EMPI gear selector

Brand new empi crank pulley

Brand new Ignition system (plugs, leads empi dizzy cap, rotar arm, coil)

Brand new windscreen washer pump and bottle (to fit)

Brand new door handles and keys (to fit)

It just needs headlamps and indicators wiring up, window wipers fixing and ignition barrel fitting, then its ready for the road :-D

It needs a few other bits doing before i put it on the road, just cosmetic, few rust bubbles and the engine hood thing has a bit of damage. Also the rear bumper needs straightening

Overall though, schwibbidy!!!

Vpolo, the guy i bought it off is from fleetwood (near blackpool). Its not been on the road though since 01, only done 64k - woop!

I think the German fitted the pre 67 wings, he lowered it and put the revos on too.

I got a hella lot of other goodies for it too, porsche headlamps (clear lense) few chrome goodies for the inside and a bit of boom boom all mounted behind the rear seats

Interia pic - chequer plate is for winners  I'm a loser though so will be getting rid

yeeees thats badass. i love the oval slat things above the bumpers, reminds me of a karmann ghia

ahhhh man that is fully pimp. when do we get to take it for a spin, it has to go to dubfreeze. dooooooo it

looks mint after the wax and the modernlines look hard as fook

thats really smart mate, loving the old skool pimping

Looks pretty straight, what are the heater channels like on it? i dont really think that early bumpers work with the elephant foot rear lights and short decklid, needs to be either all early stuff, or all late stuff imo. should go german look with it though, some nice 17'' porsche turbo cups and slam it to the floor, would suit it in that yellow.

I've had a 1303s in the parents garage for 12 years now, bought it when i was 13, it was a proper rotbox, basicly replaced the bottom 5 inches of the whole car then lost intrest, it is now a huge cupboard for my dads shit! will get round to 1 day maybe though!

Yeah the first thing i wanted to do was get rid of them mahoosive rear lights, but then i found out you have to change the whole wings and i was like... "you know, from a different angle they dont look too bad"

Its deffo on the cards for future though, just want to mince about in it this summer first

Not sure dude, I've not even really looked at it yet. I'm going up to my mums next week and me and bro are going to start playing - woop!

You should revive it now, poor thing being used as a storage container :lol:

Anyone got a small spline (basically any early VW) steering wheel that they're selling? that is smaller than the standard truck size standard one

Haha good stuff mr walsh, love it :smirk: Not sure about yellow though 'nana man... Maybe it will grow on me!

I love the photoschlag work
