could i just take the ecu out of my 6n spi, and spi tower and put the bike carbs in?

you wont need a ecu to run carbs just a ignition amp,found on most early vw's a suitable coil and you realy want to use a vacume advance dizzy .

hy one question id like to put bike carbs on my 6n afh so wich dizzy i need that form the first pic or the dizzy from the second pic?the later dizzy of mk2 or early dizzy of mk2?

late mk2 dizzy, the principle is exactly the same!

grungeisdead tnx,maybe you know enyone who made that convertion on a mk4?becouse I'm confuse how will work becouse the mk4 have a lot of electronics and senzors and what abouth the orig.fuel pump?or i just take off the manifold and fuel delivery on engine and live the orig.fuel pump,then put the carbs on and connect the fuel pipe to the facet fuel pump then regulator and then to carbs???pls help me becouse i`m new in this and all mecanicals here in Slovenia they said that is not worthet to do this conversion on a mk4.buth when i reading yours posts i see that you done on a mk4 engines and so one who done on a mk4 car that convertios i send him a PM buth he didn`answer me.pls help me

I've done it on a mk4 polo, its ridiculously simple, read the conversion guide I've done for a mk1-3 polo, its no different, all you need is an inlet manifold, carbs, some way of fuelling them and some way of controlling your ignition.

unplug everything else from your engine that you dont need, its simple when you get on with it, but i wouldnt recommend it if you cant understand what to do from the pinned threads as youll get stuck if something breaks down.

i work with the bike carbs buth just fixed on a bike not on a car.

ok i have all electr.parts from a golf mk2 i look for a dizzy that you post in one threads with the serial number and i have it then my brother have some carbs of cbr 600 i think is of year 97.

-then if i understand i need inlet manifold(home made)with pipes madet on a angel 45°-60°,corect or not?

-and a presure regulator with a gauge

you can use your original fuel pump, just get a high pressure reg and then a low pressure reg to reduce the fuel pressure from 50 psi down to 2-3.

hy one more question: "just get a high pressure reg and then a low pressure reg to reduce the fuel pressure from 50 psi down to 2-3" must be the high pressure reg realy so high or can be just from 4-9psi becouse here i can`t find the reg so high (to 50psi or around)and if i oreder it from ebay is much expensive??

ok here is the gospel truth about this conversion i am currently performing myself most of the stuff at the top of this thread is true bar the need to remove the vac advance this is needed as it monitors rev range and airfuelmix it replaces the ecu in a way most people are only using the preamp wiring loom but in a mk3 what happens when you remove the ecu and it wireing... you lose the yellow and blue sensors along with one of the water housing sensors to replace these take a second loom of the mk2 it's the first harnes nerest the fuse box this will replace the yellow and blue sensors and the missing water housing sensor which in turn will also give you an extra live and negative feed from one of the water housing sensors which act as an auto choke as some bike carbs will have an input for this, if any one has the issue of the dizzy not fitting you can run it upsidown with the ht leads run 180 degrees oposite to standard.

that still leaves you with the problem off the hall sender plug getting in the way of the overflow pipe take-off. you can use a golf thermostat housing off a later model, unsure which, but it doesnt have the take-off, which will allow you to move the distributor around to its maximum advance position.

its not gospel until you've actually had the engine running, which heg123 had done, many moons back.

I can't really work out what you are saying but my setup is exactly as Heg123 has done it bar the sports coil and it works perfectly. But there are many ways to skin a cat!

I'm most the way there and I'm pretty shure it'll tick over with a hitch and theres a difference between somthing running and running sweetly which i cant see happening without vacadvance if had my friend whos a plummer make up some pipe to recerculate the two extra water outlets so they have a lower profile my thread was more about the loom it may not be nessary for it to run but I'm a lot picky :-)

considering the gentleman above got a 27 bhp increase from his current setup, as tested on the rollers, id say thats running pretty sweetly.

if your going to consider giving out information, at least set the scene a bit more, and put it in a far more readable form.

what yellow sensor are you on about? there is one black and blue temp senders on mk3s, yellow and blue wires are for oil pressure senders.

i do have a mk3 coupe and was talking about the conversion i am performing on it, ill admit i struglle with puntuation but the information given is true to my experience so far. one thing you could help me with is some people suggest 400 carbs others 600 for the 1.3 mk3 polo.

which is better and do the flat sliders help compensate for over carbage is so what size should the jets be in cbr 600's

i cannot advise on jet size for a 1.3, as i have only ran with 142/144/150 jets on cbr600s on a 1.4 16v engine, which is a very different beast by nature in comparison to the 1.3 8v.

therefore i cant really advise on your particular setup.

but anyway when youve finished the setup, it would be nice to write up your experiences properly as it will prove useful for others. :thumbsup:

ok i have put my head together today. i found that if you use the mk2 polo water housing, with the two manifold water feeds capped off (which is handy has you no longer needs them and is starndard on mk2s). you can fit the distributor the correct way up and acheive full advance.

I also completed my wireing today and cable tied them in groups looks very tidy :-)
