Spotted ! Pre production cooper S.....

Featured Replies

On my way to swindon today, followed this for a while

mini.jpg

Some kind of pre-production mule for the new mini, from what i saw it has a new front end, tail lights and rear bumper. The pic isnt very clear i know, but its covered in that funky dazzle camouflage!

I think it was a cooper S from the back box, and the fact that it was pretty fecking quick! It was running very smoky though.......

It's on a front of a car magazine actually, cant remember which one though, but I do know there gonna be making them in 5 doors.

How can they still call it a mini when its taller and heavier than a maxi?

because the mini is a great cash cow and the maxi isn't

My sister has a new mini, 10 plate thing and its bigger than my 6n Polo.

Yet it manages to have less room inside than my Polo but feels like the biggest thing in the world to drive.

Just wierd horrible cars and I really can't see an appeal.

Think the engines the only reasonable part of it! sat in one ages ago and it was just all tacky and nasty inside.

May aswell just call it The Biggi nowadays

the engines are chrystler lumps iirc... so you'll not even get BMW quality

Been in two mates bmw minis, a cooper isnt even quick, they are pretty big outside so youll loose all of that "small mini appeal" and inside theres no room, tiny boot, very very plastic interiour and a very much so "made in taiwan" feel to all of it.

Yet they do look nice at times from the outside....id have a john cooper works s myself (but wouldnt pay the money for it)

A suzuki swift is a much better reincarnation of the new mini...as it isnt trying to be one!

Skoda fabia even!

Just compare how wide the bmw mini is lmao! And the prices of minis are daft!

The suzuki swift sport does 0-60 in 8.8secs and you can get a 07 tidy one for 6k.. and 32.5mpg

BMW Mini cooper S does 0-60 in 7.4secs but for 6k your gona get about an 03.. and only 24mpg

so what your saying is buy the mini? A. because it's quicker and B. because it will hold it's value better?

I heard somewhere that the new mini has the same track-width as the first freelanders, maybe they should have called it the Midi. or the 1 series.

Sorry people, but how about you all take a step back to reality?

lol, my job is basically prototype jaguars and landrovers, if i took pics i could get like 100's of 1000's for them to the press, but i shant be doing that, therefore there wont be any going on here :)

pffft

Thats not one car trying to be another, thats just a newer version

Where as the BINI is trying to be a mini.

and atleast the polo is still small, i mean i bet the new mini is bigger than the new polo

I wont get into this rant though, i could go on for hours at how much i hate the new mini for being called a mini.

They're PSA engines I thought? Cooper S is anyway. Actually, Cooper D is too.

Lol. If you want to see pre-production Minis, hang around in Cowley in Oxford for more than 5 minutes and you'll spot at least 5.

Mini are entering WRC next year too, but nobody is supposed to know that yet.

if you want to see pre production any thing hang around on the A5 near mira, you will see a lot of crazy shit :lol:

Na id go for the suzuki (prob get one few years older and save few grand), prob more room inside even tho its a smaller car, in longterm its not going to be any more of a loss due to inital price and running cost is far less.

Plus why would you go and spend 6k on a 7year old bmw mini look what else you can get for that price! VW keep their value but you could get far better then an 03 mini cooper for 6k...like a 06 polo GTI, an 06 MK5 Golf with decent milage, a very tidy 04> ibiza cupra T & Leon 1.8 20v 225 R Cupra if you want speed and its not going to devalue much lower any time soon!

Most People buy bmw minis to buy into a gimmic, the idea they are "cool, funky, creative" or because a friend has one and it looked nice

I wont get into this rant though, i could go on for hours at how much i hate the new mini for being called a mini.

Shall I start you on the rant "why is a bmw mini clubman called a clubman"...................................

The answer being beyong me, an estate with van style twin rear doors is a clubman yet the clubman was beside a square-fronted a standard body mini.

^ You're right about the Clubman bit mate...they should have called it the Traveller.

^eeeewwwww!

there cant be anybody blind enough to buy one of those 4 door ones surely?

the 'clubman' was bad enough!

The Clubman was called that because it's the only name BMW had access to.

To be fair I don't see why there's such a hatred, it's only a name. They are an above average small hatchback. I wouldn't buy one, but there are far worse cars out there.

well theres not alot contemporary about that..

It looks like a retarded toad.
