Featured Replies

So, The old golfie's a bit tired atm and is desperately needing a new heart. The engine has done 16K since i fitted it over a year ago. An oil change was done at 3k, but i havn't done one since!

So she's being saved from the death of winter by this little beast..

I bought this off my mate who drove us on a 1600 mile trip round europe this summer, which was the last time it was used. Went From Norwich to Spa Francorchamps, the nurburgring the same day, did a lap. Onto the first round of the berg cup in luxemburg (epic weekend) and finally a visit to amsterdam before returning home.

She did well only using £200-300 worth of fuel and handled the trip in it's stride. One thing i didn't realise until i started prepping it for an mot the other day was that the damper insert had come free from the strut, so was essentially flapping about in the strut, whilst we jollied around the ring  Quite worrying, to say the least.

So ripped the sus off..

Swapped that with the old bits off my G40 that I'm breaking.

Whilst i was there, robbed the VW2 calipers, bought some new discs and pads and fitted these whilst i was at it..

Also robbed the old TCA's off the G40, pressed the tired outer bushes out and robbed some powerflex ones from my 5-year mk2 project :roll:

Had a powdercoated arb lying about, so used that and robbed the now redundant arb bushes, brkts etc from my G40 conversion..

Almost there..

"I'll just swap the brakes"..

IMG_1755.JPG

Removed an omp type strut brace which was fitted with Tex screws, which left holes..

IMG_1752.JPG

Quick clean up

Got the tig plant out..

Quick clean up and it was dark

Today i fitted a hand brake cable and sorted out the inside of the car (removed all the crap from our week long road trip) and generally robbed parts of other cars!

The exhaust need a few tweeks and i need to change the windscreen, then it'll be ready for an mot.
