Hi, i have little issue with this particular polo. As I'm trying to set ignition timing on it properly. ECU doesnt lets me do it. As it fights for his way.

I read a guide about it but thats for different model of polo. Does anyone knows how to do it on 6n particulary ?

Think you need to let coolant get over 80ish degrees, just wait for the fan to cut in, unplug temp sender then set it

You can do it with vagcom but I don't think you have to

Use VAG 1551/2 or equivalent equipment, then follow procedure for checking basic setting

All I can assume for this is that it requires vag-com to lock the timing. but the basic should be 5 degrees @ 750rpm

Cause i dont know wich one need to buy. But lets be honest, i realy dont want to buy tool like that. Thats just stupid :(. Hondas for example is extremly easy to do all that work and such, no need vagcoms and such.

There is very little about the 6n 1.3.

Looking at the engine it looks like a normal mk2f with a 6n rocker cover.

The 2f you disconnect the temp sensor to put the ecu into setting mode and off you go but obviously the 6n 1.3 has a different ECU and either does not have this particular sensor or it serves a different purpose.

Basic Vag-com is just a £5 lead from ebay and you can get the full software from certain places or a basic version is available for free.

Even then the Freeware version of it might be capable of doing the basic setting.

Rite. This is going to be some challenge.

Did timing belt, did other stuff, changed clutch. But it appears that The adjusting ignition timing is the hardest work lol.

Before you go too far with this, it may be worth double checking the valve timing.

If you set the CAMSHAFT timing mark to its static pointer, any errors in timing will be multiplied by 2 when you check the CRANKSHAFT timing mark against its static pointer.
