Okay so today i was driving home after picking up a bready wrap around spoiler. I was about to pull out of a junction when my friend in my passenger seat said 'look out a bike' so i stopped, the front of my car was out in the road by about 2ft, not very far at all, as this biker came speeding past, shaking his head at me. So when he was past i drove off, looked in my mirror and saw the biker turning around, he chased me, shouted at me to 'pull the f**k over' and got infront of me so i had to. I got out, and straight away to avoid any fuss said 'sorry mate, i didnt see you'

But this guy, about 6ft 6 tall and absolutely FAT and around 40 years of age came marching over swearing at me constantly, and then proceeded to hit me around the face. (it wasnt painful so i kept calm). I pushed him away from me and said 'What the f**ck i said i was sorry, what is wrong with you?' and he tried to get back in my face so i pushed him away again.

Then my friend was out too and we were having a swear match, took down the guys registration and asked for his name, but he got back on his bike, told us to F-off and left.

Was i really that wrong?? i mean all drivers make mistakes and i wasn't even covering half of the road he could easily get by!?

I now hate bikers with a passion, as a few weeks ago some hooligans on bikes randomly tried kicking my mates car in, smashed his wingmirrors and scratched the side, then we got pulled over and they didnt.

Bikers are nobs tbh. Not all of them but quite a few think they own the road.

I saw an old-ish woman get followed, then confronted by a biker who said she was going 'too slow' on a dual carriageway so obviously she needed a good shouting at.

Best bet would have been to try and carry on round him. Obviously you didn't know he was gonna hit you but he sounded like a bit of a psycho.

yeah i was thinking i have two options, 1 - pull over or 2 - get to a backroad and escape haha

I only ever stop for the police, you could argue self defence if you thought your life was at risk. Go round him, if not go over him. It could've ended worse.

Did you read the rest of that sentence? My girlfriends dad died last year on his bike, I'm not calling him a nob. Just from my experience there are a lot of dickhead bikers out there.

His reaction was over the top.

I say go to the police, let them know about this guy assaulting you. When you knew about his presence in the road you stopped. A much to common mistake made by drivers but you just dont expect bikes to pop out. I know alot of bikers, and they are always up in arms about how they cant use the roads without being fearful of what other road users might do any second but the same can be said about cars drivers with bikes.

Report him, put the full story across and get your wittiness to put in a statement aswel. Or, be really cheeky and give the guys plate to the police saying that he wants a hi-vis jacket so he can be seen riding! (The police are doing a huge biker push to wear hi-vis around my end and provide them free of charge to your front door or at meet's)

Its assault, go to the police. What would they do to you, due care and attention, not really as you stopped. He may be pissed with you but he has no right to hit you, dont be a hero and start a fight like everyone else is saying, he could of had a knife

You think his reaction was possibly over the top?, of course it was over the top. I know a lot of bikers get killed but it don't give him the right too assault people over a near miss. The op made a judgement error, and no one got hurt so yeah his reaction was over the top. He would of got a kick in the bollocks off me.

Where I live there are so many bikers that drive like absolute knobs, doing silly speeds on country roads/dual carriageways, overtaking on double white lines and other general douchebaggery. I always try to be aware of them and many say thanks and what not if you move over to let them pass easier, after working in a bike shop for a short period though it's my opinion that they don't get into too much trouble as most of them are balding middle aged men or traffic cops .

On a serious note OP report the incident to the police, you have his registration plate and a witness, I don't see what harm would come of it.

He nearly got permanently fucked up by you not looking what's going off, you got a wake up slap. Man up, you live, you learn.

I'm a seasoned rider dude and I would gladly admit that the majority of bikers do think they own the road! Lets face it aswell, more than the majority of bikers drive like absolute fucking tools!

Mate id let the plod know the details and from your witness as well what happened and that he hit you. Forcing you to pull over is also an offence - especially as he clearly wanted a confrontation.

Say you want him cautioned but not charged. They will probably knock on his door one evening when he is sitting down for his dinner with the family or whatever - but plod knocking at your door is not nice. The fact that he hit you crossed all the lines.

There is absolutely no excuse for him hitting you (or making you stop for that matter) - id wager if he had seen a body builder or night club bouncer in the drivers seat he wouldn't have done the same thing - the guy is obviously a bully. Angry, but also a bully.

I know of a lad (more recently a father of two) who i was at school with, getting lightly shoved at a roadside confrontation last year, he stumbled backwards and fell with the back of his head just catching the curb, it killed him.

There is no place for violence like this.

As for bikers getting angry I dont get it. We all see what terrible drivers there are out there as well as the usual mistakes or lack of judgement - the roads are so crowded now days and with so many distractions - phones, sat navs and ICE it just makes a bad situation worse. Bikes are harder to see than a car, fact, yes its the responsibility of the diver to see you but thats no fucking help when you're dead.

In the UK i really think that there is no place for sane bikers any more, you have got to be mental to go out there with so many people driving so badly and just a simple slip or a new text message and you are dead. In fact there is a good argument for not driving a car that is more than 10 years old as we have seen how well old cars stand up to new ones in a crash.

Id quite fancy having a bike again if I lived in the states or somewhere with wide open spaces and wide roads etc There is no substitute for the feeling you get from riding (obviously I'm not thinking about the cities), but given just a minor accident can maim or kill you it just seems crazy to go out on the road on a bike now. I've got a wife and two kids, so for me there si no way I can consider riding a bike. The loon too a couple of shows a year and a meet every couple of months is bad enough.

I'm hoping the OP and everyone else pays more attention in future.

From a bikers viewpoint. Its a pain in the arse but i generally find knowing I'm more vulnerable makes me far more alert of situations. If you work by the logic everything on the road wants to kill you dead, you generally learn the tell tale signs.
