GEARBOX HELP NEEDED ASAP

Featured Replies

So today I had a clutch fitted in the 6n and was all good until i was on way home and encountered problems

My gears have gone all sloppy and i have lost 5th gear

it is also hard to get into 1st and 2nd as they feel like they are where reverse should be and even when in gear the gear stick moves around like it is in neutral

any ideas as need it fixed for the weekend or is there anyone in Birmingham that would have a look for me as i am clueless

by the way it's a 1.3 6n if that helps

The linkages quite often creep out of alignment when they're first used after being put on. Fairly asy to adjust back.

next question...how do you align them?

I'm now down to having 2 gears and no idea which ones

OK so i now know what the problem is with my 6n...on the end of the gear shift rod there is a bracket / socket that goes over a ball ( hope that makes sense) on the gearbox. there is a locating pin on this bracket / socket that fits into the gearbox and keeps the linkage and gear stick central....mine has snapped off and i think there is some stuck into the gearbox still so my question is...does this do anything else apart from just a locator to keep the rod in position as i think i may be able to drill it out where broken and fit a bolt through as a temp measure until i find the right part

did you pay for the clutch replacement or diy it?
