no

ilegal number plates are just 30 quid and no points

That's wrong.

I'm sure it's a minimum of £30 per felony but most officers just issue the fine per car, some per plate, the maximum is a £1,000 fine.

Offences

It is an offence to alter, rearrange or misrepresent letters or numbers in order to form names or words or in such a way that

makes it difficult to read the registration number. Characters must not be moved from one block to the other e.g. AB51 DVL

must not be displayed as AB5 1DVL or AB 51DVL. Vehicles with illegally displayed number plates may FAIL the MoT

test. The police can also issue fixed penalty fines for illegally displayed number plates. Offenders are liable to a MAXIMUM

FINE of £1,000 and in some cases the mark may be withdrawn.

For vehicles with new or replacement number plates fitted after 31.8.2001, “3-line” number plates are no longer permitted.

got the same thing mate... but if u get caught a second time they will take hte numberplate so your car becomes unregistered, you then have to reregister it on a Q plate i beleive making it worthles...

personally cant see the fasination in non standard plates.

like it 100% plain and legal tbh.

exactly....i love nothing more than driving past the police in a shiny shiny dub that is 100% legal!

the plates are illegal what do you expect? you can get points but i think it depends how far the copper is up his own ass on the day.

I'm not sure about that Q plate thing, I heard they changed it incase people went out to aim to get Q plates??

I much prefer my standard legal plates anyways, I always have. Your making it easy to be pulled, and standard looks better anyway

its all about no front plate

Make your dad pay...:ninja:

haha dont worry he is

If they confiscate your German plates, the regisration is still the same on the car, as on the V documents, it just wont be displayed on the car, meaning you cant legally drive the car until to fit legal plates.

yeh n the seizing n re registering thing is to do with private plates that are just flat out blatanlty illegal so they take your private reg off u n u have to put it back o nits old reg again

German Plates FTW.

WHY do 'Q' plates make it worthless?

dont think you can get points.when i got pulled for mine i asked him.he said you cant because its a civil offence and not a criminal offence.£30 fixed penalty

i still dont know what that feels like...:ninja: hahahahaha plain and legal ftw when it comes to plates...:)

WHY do 'Q' plates make it worthless?

Q Plate

Q Plate is a vehicle registration mark that starts with a 'Q', indicating that the vehicle was either not originally registered in the UK and proof of age was unavailable at registration; or that it is a vehicle that has been built using a significant proportion of used parts.

Kit cars usually have a Q registration. Q plates can be used to disguise stolen or 'rung' vehicles, and when it comes to a bike check, you should be especially cautious of motorcycles which bear a Q plate.

Ahh nasty, shouldve asked him didnt he have something better to catch, eg. real criminals? £30 quid for a plate, thats probably what the plate cost you in the first place. The UK is soo shitt...

I got pulled for a random roadside check down south a while ago and got talking to the young officer and he said he'd rather be out catching real criminals

the q plate thing is for people who deliberatly mis-spell the letters to make words n things

when i got a fine for my california plates he said there wouldnt be any point in giving me a q plate as its just the actual plate thats illegal

he also said you couldnt get points untill march then it was changing?

might put my standard plates back on soon lol

Is that why you didn't have one on the front of the polo and had black ones for photoshoot?!
