Well I'm writing this with no skin on my back or elbow, and a nice gash stitched up on my forehead...every muscle possible aches to fook but I've got the biggest smile cause I really shouldn't be here.

Well sorry to say it is no more...I broke down on a dual carriageway on Monday afternoon (throttle cable came off) and there was a very small hard shoulder. So I'm there with my hazards on fixing the cable back on when there is a massive bang...I opened my eyes to find myself lying in the middle of the road with blood spurting out of my forehead. Polo was nowhere to be seen. I looked up to see a man in a Fiesta screaming...gods knows how but I managed to get up and run to the side of the road, pure instinct I guess. Confusion turned to shock and I lay down and looked up at the sky, was a bloody nice day. Soon enough people appeared around me telling me to stay awake and not to move and asking if the car in the ditch was mine...

I was rushed to hospital and kept strapped up on oxygen in the resuciation room while they tried to figure out the extent of my injuries, felt so sorry for my parents and true friends who rushed (some halfway across the country) to be there for me. After numerous scans and X rays they found that despite being hit and thrown flying by my own car I had no serious injuries...just severe whiplash and bruising, the gash to my head and nasty tarmac burns to my back, elbow and legs..

Yeti and Stevie got some pics of the car at the recovery yard yesterday...I'll post them up later- let's just say Polo + 60mph impact = shortened wheelbase by about 3 foot. Still can't believe I'm intact, and can't thank my family and friends enough...they say the things you do come back to you so I must've done something right cause things could've been so different if I'd been in/behind the car or not had the handbrake on. (it spun round, hit me and then flew off the road to the ditch ending up on it's roof, took them an hour to get it out) I might be in pain and need some time to recover but I'm stupidly lucky by all accounts.

The driver of the Fiesta apparantly didn't see me although it was a clear, straight and empty road..he's being prosecuted for driving without due care. I don't feel up to writing my statement just yet, need to rest and get my strength back at the moment.

On the upside, the whole experience has taught me who my real friends are, that I'm a fighter- plus hopefully I'll be able to buy the car back and put all the special bits on something else.

So, hopefully I'll see you all at the shows and now you'll know what the wee scar on my forehead will be from...also the red heart bead I'll have round my neck- from a necklace I put on just before I left the house which I hadn't worn for 2 years. They had to cut it off in the ambulance but I got them to save the heart bead and kept it in my hand the whole time- it must've been a good luck charm so I'll never take it off again!

just read that, cold shiver down my spine....so glad you are ok and able to write that. you are a fighter mate and everyone says it but cars can be replaced (even though we sometimes dotn think they can), people simply cannot be.

Thoughts out to your family as I'm sure they have had a rollercoater of emotions.

and about the scar, if anyone asks tell em you really REALLY like Harry Potter.

Bloody hell thats well close! One of my worst fears has always been being hit while doing roadside repairs, sounds like you had a very very lucky escape!

I remember travellign back up to leeds form newquay when we had a puncture at 1am on an unlit stretch of motorway, attempting to get under the transit van for the spare wheel and shit was pretty scary, any of the big trucks could have lost control for a second and killed us all.

Glad you're okay though. And i suppose you might be excited to have a scar just like harry potter does hehehe.

Un-dangerous situation...there isn't much more dangerous situations than being stationary at the side of the road with people whizzing by. Stuarts G40 broke down on a slip road and despite having the hazards on and my Audi there as well the amount of people who went flying by was unreal. Few sensible folks slowed down to 30mph, which at least made us feel a little safer.

We were saying that its a god send that youre not a typical girl who`d just sit in the car and wait for help to come, but instead being the "get stuck in and do it-er" that you are, otherwise it could/would of been a whole lot worse

Shame about mooneyes but you`ll get another and it`ll be better :-)

Oh and dont worry about the forehead scar, battle scars FTW FFBM

Shit! Fingers crossed you've got no lasting damage - can't imagine how scary that must've been. Hope that Mr Fiesta's insurance company make everything right with you too.

Can remember blowing the oil seals spectacularly when I was still running a G-lader - as soon as I 'phoned the Police and breakdown service the first thing they told me was to get behind the barrier on the hardshoulder and leave the car alone (I would've had my head under the bonnet like you if it was something more fixable!). Stuff like this makes you realise why!
