J142 WLS...! Phoenix

Featured Replies

The g40 that is J142 WLS has gone back to being standard red, has normal wheel arches, and will have the standard g40 back in out my rite-off!

Its gone from this (With black roof, massive arches and a knackered sunroof),

to this! (Standard arches, same color all over, no holes in the wings (apart from redundant aerial hole!) and a standard G40 lump (nearly) in...!

I am as pleased as a ferret in a mountain of swiss cheese full of guinee pigs, to say the least. Can't wait to drive it! Will have spare pair (original shock mechanics) of front legs if they would help anyone.! i am just a couple of wheels and some bits of arches short!

Anyone who knew it before, I am looking after it, don't worry... There is enough waxoil on it to keep it rust free till the next millenium, I intend having it for the rest of my life now the ammount of work I've done with my old man on it, mainly on Sunday's after all night Emporium & Gatecrasher stompin too, torturous! Sprayed all over, undercoat, red and clear, Superb!

Awesome, glad its coming together nicely mate, lots of work I can imagine!

excellent! I'm glad this G40 is being restored to it's former glory. Mark Hunter will no doubt be happy.

I re-shelled a MK2 a couple of weeks ago, took me over 40 hours on my driveway (in four days),and the skin on my hands is still recovering. But its worth it!

That G was a stunner when it looked standard,it got quite a devastated reaction when people saw it in its 'pimp my ride uk' state,it'll be a star attraction if you can get it to Poloshow 08.

Looking spanky boss!

Good man, looked horrid before

Nice to see this G has been saved, looks soooo much better then the state it was in before! Keep up the good work!

Cant tell you how happy I am this is being restored..... I was truely gutted when it was a$$ raped big style by the guy that bought it off me.....

How is it going now?

Mark.

How is it

Its' absolutely wicked! Exactly as a standard G40 would look now!! Elliot who had the front suspension will tell you...

I've got a medical driving ban till next July, so I've re-bearing'd, gasket and oil-seal'd the engine, will get charger serviced next month, and new gearbox inputshaft bearings the month after... I need a new clutch plate, am considering a paddle, lets see..! Still interested in the Charger&Turbo setup if anyone has any info...

Glad you pleased, I am! Genuine g40 shell was only £30!

x2.

Thought it was just my lappy playing up at first. :?

I think they were in my old hotmail skydrive... I've just taken some more and will put them up...

It looks like my first one did when it came out the factory (hopefully). It's red (all over), standard g40 wheels and arches, wings, seats, My old PY engine, standard exhaust, even the original old snatch-plate stereo!!

I love her!

ps Pics tonite!

i am genuinely excited to see this, as when i saw it it was proper on its last legs, i was adamant it was going to end up a scrapper, just because of all the shit modifications to it

IMHO looks better now...

I probably like the surprise factor as much as anything about driving my g40's, and that feelins better, from my point of view if, I am not in a car that looks like its had spent a more on it than just oil and tyres.! I must admit she's now like something your grandma would buy, but then when the charger-return closes, the back digs in (I have GT back springs on for comfort) and it launches, VR6's must have to wonder why I manage to rip them with such ease... Being a few years older I just want to float along, specially as the new bearings need running in, carefully!

Can just see my old man in some of the poho's, full credit to his spraying and the ammonunt of work he's put into our welding too.. Those back arches and a good chunk of back side panels are the ones cut off my (last) wrote off g40.

I was medically banned from driving for the last 2 years, thank fork am back on road in weeks!!!

Ah yeah, I remember this one now :)

Think you posted up on here or clubG40 about some wiring issues you had?

Yeah, turned out that the two identical plugs near the coil were backwards...

I've only really ran it to warm the head gasket and not touched her again till quick polish last week!

Can't wait, I'll be so chuffed to drive her (my engine and new body) again.. Got all new brakes, drums and disks.. Newly made brake pipes to the back, new water pump, oil pump, bearings, even the starter!!! You know it'll either blow up in 5 mins or run forever, wish me luck!

ps Refused a serious offer of a grand cash this week, I'll never sell her! I want to be buried in her!

What an insult! Glad you're keeping the Polo bug :)

Glad you're keeping the Polo bug :)

:-D Polo bug! I'm bloody mental!

If only you knew the full story, but

Mine (J915LFT) broke down and towed back on day bought (hall sensor)

3 days later (May 2007) hit ice and wrote her off...

3 days later I had my engine, suspension, snatchplate pioneer et al, in a GT bought for £300. Had to SVA and Qplate it (Q97bnu) too.. Last insurance was 3pf&t £1400 (35year old, no points)

Drove perfect 1year,

Jan2008, Fell sleep at wheel on A46. Proper closed road for hour type event, luckily found my new love on ebay for £30 I think it was! Took £150 delivery, but well worth it.. Not a bit of rust, just looked a bit, erm, alan carr?
