EKE 941T

Well i guess its time to show you all what I've been doing.

Bought the car with a gt/mh conversion (built by 86C / steve) it was lowered and also had leather bucket seats. The plan was to fit bike carbs and a four branch and give it a tidy up but plans soon changed, something I'm sure you guys know all about!

I robbed the gearbox for my gt so the engine was half out , I then got an AFH for the right price, and a decent replacement 8p box, that meant i had an excuse to seem weld the bay.

Serviced the engine and gave it some swanky paint as well as bead blast the rocker cover (pimp)

next step is to finish the wings and finish the inlet mani.

What are you doing about chassis strengthening mate? Going to be a nice little motor that 8-)

so far the front is seem welded, added gussets between the bulkhead and chassis rails.

as for suspension, it has gladder site bottom arms, solid top mounts and arb blocks. and was previoulsy lowered sum 60mm on gas shocks.

I will seam weld the rear once I'm happy with the front and it is completed

this is going to be a treat of a mk1, what ignition setup are you going to be using?

There are a few of these conversion popping up at the mo ..

Looks liek a tidy shell you have there too.

A Mk1 with that engine in will be so much fun !

Get yourself a subframe though

You know I love you & all your work...........:-)

I will have to pop down to see it in the flesh.

Awesome stuff dude 8-)

Awesome :D

Nice to see Eke getting much love and attention, the AFH will be a screamer, when chris turned up in his mk1 outside my house, he sped off on leaving and my housemate ran out the house screaming what the fuuuuuuuck was that.

an afh on bike carbs was teh answer, he just looked confused and wiped some drool off his face

No way!

Thats gonna be a right toy! Good effort!

yeah you will, or i might turn up at the polo show if its done... fingers crossed.

Thanks for the positive comments, hoping the car will bring me lots of fun when its done,

the plans after its running is to fit a subframe, then a cage. I'm hoping to expose it to some competition use so ill learn for myself whats actually wrong with polo handling without people telling me!

As you can see, i bought some toyos and wrapped the ats' in them... dropped the car down off the stands for the first time in 8 months :? and added 6mm front spacers to clear the calipers. The rear are at std offset. In all fairness I'm pretty pleased with the outcome considering the suspension was already fitted to the car when it came to me. I think i ended up replacing all the nuts and bolts when re building the front anyway.

These pics are a few days old. Now i have fitted the bonnet, with a slight raise at the (hinge end) and fitted bonnet pins. Oh and the inlet mani is now welded so it will be running in a few days.....

Oh PS, i tidied the garage up also since the pics were taken!!!! (for those who steal garage space of their rents who happened to be fitting new bathrooms and rebuilding peugot 205 gearboxes I'm sure you'll understand! :D )

i love this, the afh engine is so much fun, and in a car that weighs nothing, its gonna fly.

i would love to see it in the metal.

well done

Top car! Was it much bother getting the engine mounted?

I'm liking this a lot 8-)

Niiiice, I so want to do something like that!! Keep up the good work!
