G40 at Little Chef (56k friendly)

Featured Replies

It's been ages since I posted any decent pics of my car. Since it dropped out of daily service last year it's not been used so much, which means I've been less fussy about keeping it clean. Especially inside, which used to get cleaned more often than the outside. I don't really like it to get dirty, but if I've got a spare evening and it's light I'll usually take it for a drive around Rutland Water rather than get my sponge out and clean it.

But today, I had a spare afternoon, and rediscovered the shiny grey paint under the grot.

I pass this location every day on the way home, it's a disused Little Chef restaurant on the side of the A1. I've always thought it would be a cool place to shoot the Polo, so with the light disappearing quickly I drove down, parked up and got snapping. :-D

Hand refurbished 14" Speedlines - cost me less than a night out. :D

Glad you like the pics, I'm finding I don't miss the 15s much any more. It'll look even better once it's on H&R suspension and down 60mm not 40mm as it is now. I think the front's a bit high.

Yeah indeed, the photos look fantastic!

Sweet as!

That looks like a perfect example of a mint G40. Nice.

looks spot on alex! :nod::thumbsup:

i wondered where she had got to, as hadnt seen her for a while. :paranoid:

My old job included test cars, which meant I could keep it off the road over most of the winter last year. It had a few issues last year but it's been fine (touch wood) this year, including a trip to the Ring (spot the sticker on the tailgate!) and since moving to Max I've been alternating between this and the Passat. Most of the time both are filthy though so it's not worth posting pics.

The Passat does the donkey work now though - the shit drives home in the wet where a G40 wouldn't be much fun, lugging parts to the studio and carrying my mates around.

I'm up in Stamford - so I'm a fairly similar distance away.

I don't know where the Colsterworth roundabout is - for me it's straight down the A1 till you get to the A47 turnoff. Come off there, cross the A1 and turn left at the first roundabout. Follow the road then turn left at the T junction, and it's right before you turn back onto the A1.

awesome car and good location!

i dont know what it is but this car and this G only always reminds me of a 309gti!

Probably the red stripes in the bumpers and the foglights, most people seem to take the stripes out. I like them though, I reckon it looks bare without.

red stripe works well i like it!

nice to see it out of hibernation

As much as i loved the car in its orignal guise something just didn't sit with me and those wheels. The new ones however look mint and the car is looking absolutely spot on.

Wow, that's fecking ace. I love it. Wheels really suit it and the colour is great. Good job!

Out standing quality G40 one of the best!

rather than get my sponge out and clean it.

i nearly passed out when i read that! sponge.. on paint! TUT TUT TUT!!!!

I'm not ghey enough to bother with wash mitts, two bucket methods and all that stuff. Single bucket and sponges haven't exactly ruined my paint. ;)

Bloody gorgeous.
