I've acquired another mk2 square which even though it was abandoned on a farm has a lot going for it. Only 50k so things like the rad look immaculate.

So what can be salvaged off it being a 87 1043cc if I decide to use it as a donor?

Things like the rad and say the thermostat housing?, I take it they would be the same as my 89 MH 1272cc?

A list of stuff would be great, anything that wouldn't be that obvious?

As for engine ancillaries, it's really only the starter motor and the alternator that you could use.

Depending on where you do the majority of your driving you could use the 1 litre gearbox. Its lower final drive ratio will improve the acceleration at the cost of top end. You might want to use the clutch if its any better than the one fitted to the 1272 engine.

Pretty much everything else is specific between the two engines. I'm not sure on the distributors, I dunno if your 1043cc is a bit early to have electronic ignition? If it does, it would be worth saving (only if the part numbers are the same though).

I'm going to get the car running and see if it's worth saving as it is and then take it from there. Yes wasn't really thinking about part numbers doh! which will eliminate any doubt.

The one thing this car does have being such a basic spec are stereo, cigarette lighter and aerial blanking plates. It doesn't even have a clock on the dash so it looks fantastically minimalist.

Hi mate, just wondering if you are selling any bits off it ? What I'm looking for is the dizzy, coil and ignition loom . Basicly the ignition system. So long as it has electronic ignition I'm very much intrested in them parts.
