Permanent 12v Supply In A 2008 Polo 9n3 For Remote Locking

I am fitting a Toad RK30 remote central locking unit to a 2008 polo 9N3.

Does anybody know the best place to get a good permanent 12V supply wire from, hopefully someplace under the drivers side dash ?

direct from battery?

when i did mine on my 6n i used teh perminant live to the ignition

I've now fitted the remote central locking (Toad RK30) and its working great. :-)

The 2008 polo uses a negative pulse signal to both lock and unlock the doors, linking the wire to earth locks the doors, linking to earth through a 200 ohm resistor opens the doors. The wire to tap into is a blue wire with a white stripe that comes out of the drivers door. You can get access to the loom by first removing the bonnet pull handle and then removing the trim panel by the accelerator pedal.

Be carefull about getting the right wire as there is also a white wire with a blue stripe that goes to the passenger door mirror motors.

I bolted the unit to the panel next to the bonnet release handle, and its out of harms way under the trim panel.

+12v permanent was taken direct from the battery through a grommet in the middle of the passenger footwell

orange (12v switched) was taken from the black wire in pin 12 of plug XS4 under the dash

black (earth) was bolted to earth on the mounting point of the fusebox (under the small panel near the drivers side wing mirror)

black/white and black/green (indicator wires) were linked to similar colour wires in pins 14 and 16 of plug XS6 under the dash

grey/red (lock common) was linked directly to the blue/white lock control wire in the door

blue red (unlock common) was first put through a 200ohm resistor and then linked to the blue/white lock control wire in the door

red/yellow (lock normally open) and red/black (unlock normally open) were both bolted direct to earth as per the black

grey/yellow (lock normally closed), blue yellow (unlock normally closed) and brown/white (window closure) were chopped off and not used

Hope this makes sense and is useful to others.

Thank you for spelling this out, I've read people saying that the Blue/White wire is in the driver's footwell or the driver's sill. This led me to tap into the Blue/White wire in the loom that travels the length of the floor just underneath where the bottom of the driver's door meets the main body shell (as this was in the driver's footwell and was also, I thought, the sill too). I tested for the right wire by touching it to -ve but it had no effect, so I presumed I had the wrong wire.

I have since tapped into the Blue/White wire coming, seemingly at least, through the driver's door in a rubber boot about midway up. I say seemingly because I can't see if that's where it goes as the loom splits - from something looking like it comes from the fusebox (the big thick wiring loom) - and disappears through a hole in the bodywork roughly at the same height as the rubber boot. Does that sound like the right place for the lock wire?

I thought an easy test would be to touch the wire to negative and see if it locks or unlocks the car. I could then test with various values of resistor to see which value works best to do the opposite. Unfortunately I get no effect touching this wire to -ve. What state is the lock/unlock wire in normally? Is it +ve, -ve or some other value I can measure to check I have the right wire?

BTW I tapped the +ve and -ve feeds from connector XS4 which is easier to get to because the connector can be removed and spliced in isolation.

Holy thread resurrection, can anyone help me here? I'm having the same issues as pete. I've tapped the wire coming from the floor and also the one coming from the door. No luck :(
