um, i understand about it stopping scammers and what not

but i don't currently own a polo, and only generally browse the classifieds, where i currently have my MK2 golf for sale

I don't suppose you guys would make exceptions for those who are genuine sellers etc?

i only use this forum to buy and sell and dont see why i should have to be a member to do so isnt there anouther way to sort this problem out like use a ratings board like ebay or w/e

i think its pretty obvious that all "forum users" are gonna be pissed off, but then again I'm a club member, so couldn't give two shades.

maybe if there was 2 sections? one exclusively for members to use, then another for anyone else. Members could choose whether its just other members that see their items for sale, or everyone. also members could choose whether they wish to purchase items from the members section, or from the forum users section.

then again you could still get scammed by a member.

How much/quickly is the membership obtained?

i'm not a full member but i've sold things in the past, and i have bought things too, couldn't you make exceptions for people who have a clear history?

BAD BAD BAD idea imo, people are going to miss out on stuff now from genuine sellers who arent really into polos to warrent membership

People should just use a little commen sense when buying stuff, i got done last year out of 200 quid for coilies that didnt excist and wont be too quick to send money without having loads of info about sellers in future

it is a wee bit annoying i cant get on it and i have stuff for sale ?? cant i even check or leave comments on it?

maybe you should make a section of report scammers make people leave names with some evidence rather than block honest people i think there is more honest people than not??? every one likes to browse?? cheers, Alex

+ if someone planns on scamming people whats stopping them from spending a 5a on membership and still conning some one out of 2/300 quid???

hmm, just my personal views, and i am quite aware of the problem with dodgy sellers, but what happens when someone gets scammed in their now?

Are you guys now at liberty to get involved?

if your paying to be part of a marketplace, you open up aload of new legalities too

And you will also be making yourself more work when the general chat and polo chat is flooded with for sale ads by people that dont understand

I think the main problem is with buyers, make it quite clear in all sale adverts, wanted ads, even PM's

points to think about

New members, price sounding too good, bank transfers

Then if you ignore all the above, its your own fault really

I have been a member of this forum for a long while and just because i haven't paid a fiver i cant sell stuff.

I dont think you should have any involvment with scammers on the site. The sale section is used at users own risk and if they dont check up on the seller etc for feedback and how long ago they joined, then that is their fault. They can easily go and find the adress of the member out and go round and sort it themselves as has been done by many members with the guy selling the pologti bits.

I want to become a member but youre team of admin doesnt even send packs out so why would i buy in to a site that cant even sort membership out. Surley your contradicting yourselves here Admin? Oh you want to buy or sell something? well you can join but we wont even send you a pack out till youre retired and in a bungalow... Do you think you are going to be able to cope with the influx of people becoming members over the next few days and get the packs out to them? I predict you wont and there will be masses of topics titled "wheres my membership pack".

I realise that the admin are doing their best to sort the backlog out but your only putting yourselves on the firing line by making the classifieds a member only area. I dont intend this as a rant and i know and speak to certain admin at the shows and get on well with them so i know that you are not money grabbers etc but this was not the right way to go about things.

Would it not be better to make it a viewable area to people who have 100 or more postcounts?

minimum post count is a better option, agree totally with comments about memeberships.

Is member status given as soon as you pay, or no.

Cant people just make sure they know who they're buying from, loads of posts, been here ages... or use paypal, or collect in person

You know yourself, on a club level, I don't have any need to get involved.

On a personal level, it pisses me off. So i've felt the need to get involved.

Decent people are being robbed. This is the only way I could do anything to help prevent this.

well I've just paid for membership, about time though, just curios - how long till i can log into the classifieds as a member because theres something I'm currently after, and watching

I've never seen another forum do this, i think all the above points are quite valid, and this website is the only site i've had interest on my items for sale so far.

Maybe if your going to do this you could of put up a notice, rather than just cutting it in half way through the day, all the people who arn't into polo's as much to warrant membership can no longer access the for sale thread anymore.

I'm on a lot of vw forums an peeps who kno me kno I'm always got stuff to sell

personally the club polo classifieds to me was the best there was.. think few might go an look at other forums etc etc
