Sold - Mk3 Gt Squareback

Featured Replies

Moving to a bigger and newer car and don't have space for the GT any more so she's up for reluctant sale :(. She's been a great little daily for the past year, lots of fun to drive even if it's a bit bumpy with the PhilJ kit on :-D. If I was keeping her I'd stick some lowering top caps on the front to sort out the stance and think about further engine mods. With a few choice mods this will see 100bhp easily.

Make: VW

Model: Polo GT

Year/Reg: 1991/J

Mileage: Approx 94k

MOT: mid-May

Tax: til end of March

Good points: Steel sunroof, Poloace 7k chip, Golf GTI air intake elbow with filter and homebrew heat shield, lowered 40mm on PhilJ shocks and springs, standard GT steels and wheel trims with decent tyres, Sony CD/MP3 head unit, new GSF locking fuel cap, clear indicators, black painted rear VW badge, all GT badges removed. Had full service with new cambelt and various other bits done last year. Exhaust backbox bracket has been replaced using this technique. Full set of carpet mats plus OEM front rubber mats. Full service history but not much paperwork. Had starter replaced recently and exhaust sorted as above. Can come with badged or badgeless front grille. Currently has a mk2 Golf GTI steering wheel on, but it can come with a proper GT steering wheel and big spline adapter. Custom cut sheet of 5mm MDF under the carpet in the boot. Two keys for the car plus two keys for the fuel cap.

Bad points: Rear suspension squeaks, suspect axle bushes are worn. Aerial was snapped off before I bought it and I have a replacement but never got round to fitting it. Dash speakers sound rubbish and the rubbers are perished. Tailgate is a bit rusty, there are also small scabs below the windscreen and on the front arches, and after lack of cleaning during the winter there's some surface rust along the bottom of the doors. Definitely could do with the paint tidying up.

Location: Basingstoke/Fleet.

Price: £550 ono

Made a bit of a mess changing the oil hence oil stain around the filler. Slight leak from the rocker gasket on the left, very common, haven't noticed level dropping at all.

Now with pics. Forgot to take detail shots of the surface rust on the doors, hopefully the pics here are clear enough. Also forgot rear arches but tbh they're clean, it's the fronts that have the bubbling/scabs.

Any more pic requests, please let me know.

Only a couple: standard airbox, removed charcoal cylinder, GT steering wheel, spare slightly damaged NS wing mirror (glass fine), badged front grille, spare aerial. Think that's about it, they're all up in the garage loft at the moment but can get them down and check if you want.

this still up for grabs

Yes it is. Make me an offer?
