Original Post from when I purchased the car

Good Points:

One of the earliest 13OO Sport coupes in this country

The Polo coupe S was Introduced in 1985. The car you are bidding for was registered in February of that year.

Purchase bill present and the car cost £5299.

Full 'sports' trim which included sports seats, rev counter, twin-lamp grille, 3-spoke steering wheel and 'sports' styling.

Full service history.

All bills since new (36)This includes service bills.

All Log books and manuals .

4 Previous Owners

Bad Points:

Wipers will not come on

The car has a new battery but only starts from Jump Leads

Car will not tick over (Either air intake pipe is split or Idele speed/ choke needs looking at)

Needs a good machine polish

Comments:

Picking this lil beasty at the weekend, will get it mot'd and tax'd pronto and itll be a daily driver while I take my golf gti off the road for some remedial work (Clutch, Crankshaft oil seal & welding)

Plans:

Machine Polish

Mot & Tax

Cheap Lowering kit or buy my old coupe s back and swap over the 70/60 hnr kit, exhaust and g40 running gear, sell the old coupe s as standard.

Loving the last pic, was starting to wonder if the van was still there.

174 miles later it was at the MOT station

and I was left with a 3 page 40 item list of fail =/

so a month later, the day after the mot was done the car had its first outing at VWNW, Tatton Park

then at edition 38 - with some new wheels.

was very tempted by blondie several times, and dene4368s yellow one when he had it up for sale (prior to scrapping) but didnt go through with them either time!

always loved the yellow coupe s's, i still want 86cs so when i saw this up for sale, at a bargain price, i had to buy it.

looking forward to letting karlie loose on it with a machine polisher =D

  • Author

aye you missed it, 119k

and i have the original purchase bill for charlie murphy too =D

was watching this on ebay as well.. looked like it went for a bargain but no cash atm or i'd have been bidding too.

yellow has to be the best colour on the coupe s...

good luck getting it back to manchester and getting the mot done.

cheers dude, long time no see!

Yeh after seeing steves yellow peril i needed to have one in yellow! and a bargain it definatly was! shouldnt really be buying another car without tax and mot but to be honest its too good an offer to miss!

spoke to vosa and the dvla and there is absolutely no restriction on which mot station i use as long as its pre appointed, so i have booked one in pershore, one in manchester and one in derby and ill just see which one i can be bothered driving to on the saturday!

biggest issue is going to be working out why it wont start unless it has jump leads connected! dodgy earth i think! just means if the car cuts out at a junction ill have to wave jump leads at people frantically until someone stops and hooks me up!

I'm special  Loving the interior, it's almost as good as mine in Roxy :-p

Lovley little car hope it finds the road again one day

you not going with a backup car to jump start you if needed?

what about sticking a spare fully charged battery in the boot so you can jump yourself if you can't get it sorted easily? i got a spare battery in my garage if you need to borrow one, but sure you got loads lying around..

I'm special  Loving the interior, it's almost as good as mine in Roxy :-p

Got the same interior in my GT, took it out of an A reg Coupe S in the scrappy.

respect, kinda polo treasure.take care of it and show him the needed tlc ;)

Hey man, Yeh pop down whenever your free dude, will be trying to crack on with getting the brakes done on the loop in the next couple of weeks so i can get it back on the ground, and then concentrate on finishing modifying the engine mounts. could always do with some extra hands =]

The plan about taking another battery down is a good un, ill probably just take the battery from my golf with me and some jump leads, only problem is, as the car wont hold its idle, is gettin out, giving the car a jump start, trying to close the bonnet and get back into the car to drive off without it cutting out! haha should be fun, worst comes to worst get the aa to tow the behatch

nice ride m8 :D but thought that Coupe S came out in 1981? as mine is a 1983 Y..?

or does that just make mine the oldest in the country?
