Above is taken from etka, it concerns throttle bodies for 1.4 6n '97 polos. Can any mechy clued up types tell me if that means that any of them will fit my AFH? And will there be any differences between the two parts? Cheers, Danny

check your chassis number mate, thats what the codes are referring too

Right so according to that I need the 036133064C body, I can't seem to find a second hand one anywhere, what are the differences, if any, likely to be? If I fitted the later 036133064E one would it work correctly?

its probably a minute difference mate, id just get another one and bang it on, most of the golf bits with A B C D part numbers are usually interchangable to some degree.

if you can go an collect it, you should be able to change it there and then and see for yourself exactly what the crack is

Thats what I was thinking, they look the same, the sensor socket also looks the same, fuck it I'll give it a go and report back...

dont quote me on this, but iirc the one ending in C on the part number has a vaccum connection for the fuel pressure regulator, but you could just block this off with a piece of rubber hose and a plug in the end or something.... there are two types of intake manifold for the afh engine and one has a vacuum port for the regulator instead of it being on the throttle body ending with E

well, I compared the two today and there appears to be no visible difference, so sod it i'll buy either, someone on bike carbs must have a spare one? Been to the 'specialist vw breakers' today, they tried flogging me one with a tiny opening, was off a 75bhp 6n2, when I showed them how big the opening should be they sniggered and said 'it's a 1.4 not a 20vt' so I popped my bonnet and they soon shut up :-) Sadly, being proved right does not solve my throttle body problem so I'm still left with the erratic idle

the body off a 6n2 will be DBW too so it wont be suitable... just as a heads up though, if you can find an early lupo with an AFK engine code, it's the same thottle body

what does DBW stand for? I've seen a gas flowed one on ebay sold as a lupo sport/gti throttle body has the 036133064E code and is £120, much cheaper than ecp and gsf so failing finding a standard one being broken I might just get that.

Yeah it is but the 6n2 part they offered me 036133064D was also cable operated. All the 6n2 parts appear to be cable operated, not sure what its called but the plastic wheel thing that the cable clips onto is present on them all?

interestingly, that diagram above does show the vacuum fitting on the side of the throttle body, but that pic is from a 75bhp one too
