I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to get the power cable from the battery through to the inside? I've found what i think is the commonly used gromet to get it through, but I can't seem to get it through, and was wondering if anyone knew any easy ways to do it?

I'm gonna put an amp in too soon, so i'll be keeping an eye on this! Once its inside I assume you just hide it under the carpet and run it into the boot

yeh it's really easy to get the wires from the front to the boot, just pop up the seal cover things on the sides and run it down there, and slide out the back seats when you get to that point and just run it underneath.

In my 6n there i pushed the amp power wire through on the passenger side where a load of wires from the loom already go into the car.

yer the 6n2s are a pain in the arse to get fru due to the sound dedding, you need to stik a screwdriver frew the gromit and pierse the sound dedding and then get a nife hack like f*ck till you make a big enough hole then push it fru, thats what i did, the 6ns are a peice of piss to do

Yeah, if you look in the engine bay, between the engine cover and the battery, theres a grommit at the back where lots of cables go through, this is where you'll put the same.

I don't know how you get the cable over, so i just put a hole with a screw driver like Blandy and pushed it through! It comes out behind the glovebox so you'll need thin hands to get at it. And you will get cut hands, arms! It's good fun though! :p

Thanks for the replies, i'll give the screwdriver stabbing technique a try tonight :p As for getting behind the glovebox, i've already suffered many a cut and scratch trying to find out where the wires come through, not cool!

i taped it tightly to a metal rod and lubed it up and slipped it through. worked like a charm. splop. and then its a piece of piss from there just pop off the plastic bits by the door seals and run all your cables under there. running your audio cable up the driver side is a little effort but its not difficult

Does the wire go through the grommet in a straight line? or does it go up/down/sideways at an angle or anything like that?

i remember it hitting something the other side... its a good idea to have a mate the other side to pull it through..

its bloody fiddly either way

A kid i know has a mk4 fiesta who had all his wiring dangling under his car. Until it all melted >.>

I have mine running down both sides of my car, the red power wire on the left side and the bits for the head unit on the radio running along the right side.

The wiring on the right hand side can go behide/up the back of the foot pedals. There is a flimsy 'polystrynene' cover that it can tuck behind. As for the left hand power cable mine runs along/inside them black squidgy things but pops out of my car by the wing mirror (behind the door when its closed) and touches down on the battery on the left hand side. Not the best way but i too wasnt too sure how else i would do it =/ xzo

poke the srewdriver on a bit of a down angle and push fru the sound dedding and just make a big enough hole for the screwdriver and the cable and your sorted i had a sub, amp and hed unit wierd in and working in 1 hour tops so not dificult

ok i managed to get that wire through using a stick of bamboo lol, taped the wire to the end, poked it through and found it (quite easily) on the inside. having more issues now with my amp not getting power, more work tonight :/

edit: does anyone know if not swapping the red and yellow wires will cause problems with the headunit turning the amp on at all?

yer i had the problem when i got my head unit that it would switch on but wudnt save any stations ect then i swaped the red and yellow wires round and its working fine now

as well if you are doing wires and passing them threw holes the best thing to do is get a little tourch and shine it threw the hole then have a look on the other side were the light is and its more easy to find it if its dark such as under the dash if you was passign threw the power cable threw the gromet and into the car .

tis a good idea with the torch, especially considering i was working on it as the sun was going down lol.. but tbh if you just stick your hand up behind the glovebox, directly where the grommet goes through (you can tell just by looking at where it is), you will find the wire quite easily.

and also the remote cable... i cant quite fully remember how i did it.. but my amp wasnt turning off when i turned the car off even though it was wired into the remote..... so i ended up getting pissed off and cutting the remote cable... then it started working fine. lol.

Swapped the red and yellow wires, now everything works:)

bringing this one back ... where are 6n2 people grounding their amps?

Depends where the amp is; but you can ground it any where there is a feck off big bolt. I've used the rear seatbelt bolts, but you can equally use the seat lock bracket thing! :)
