Right, i did have a gallery thing, but that started off queerly haha! So i'll do a sort of thread on what it was and what it is now and progressing!

Bought her off ebay for around 595 i think? And it had a few things done which was a bonus i guess at the time and few things that i wasn't too keen on.

The picture from ebay:

Went and picked her up from somewhere up in Yorkshire a full day of driving in our 2.0L 1979 Saab Turbo with a trailer on the back haha!

Wasn't too keen on the bike can on the back, also the previous owner was a slight tool, the can was held on by a strip of dexcell and just bolted up, also we didnt know it at the time but the fuel pump had been bodged too.

The engine as of when i got it:

IMG141.jpg

Tasty insulation tape right? Not. That was one of my jobs to either take it off, or re-tape in black and make a decent job of it!

First step to making it sort of 'my own' i took the speedlines off and put the standard steels that the polo came with.

How she looked once i put them on.

IMG144.jpg

Doesn't look too pleasing but i wasn't a fan of the speedlines if i'm honest!

I can't remember the order of what i done to the car but atleast you get the point of what I'm doing? :-)

Ill post pictures instead of dribbling on! I think it'll be easier hah!

I haven't got a picture for this but if you need a picture then well fail? But i replaced the front disks and pads as they were scored and just raped really.

Spent a good while on the engine, and sourced a proper washer bottle!

Looking better imo.

Not much really changed within the 7 months i've had it, money was the main problem.

The last month or two have been quite busy i suppose!

Me and the old man made up a home made rear exhaust assembly from the centre box onwards! And sounds really good, also a new fuel pump was bought from ebay still in the box brand new for £50! Considering looking for ones everywhere were reaching as high as £250, and we just couldn't justify that amount of money, so out came jubilee clamps etc until we found this pump!

Common fault i think with them is the mounting bracket eventually wears through the outer pump lining for salt and crap on the roads! So we used industrial cable straps to hold it on! Jobs a good'un ;D.

Small bits and bobs have been bought for it like the occasional air freshener, new wiper blades, washer fluid pump, rocker cover gasket.

Recently also bought two new top mounts for the front as mine are compressed and nackered! A cigarette lighter was also purchased because i ride bmx and i need a satnav to travel to places, but with no source of keeping the satnav alive it can get frustrating.

So i need to fit the top mounts and ciggy lighter! Just need to see if i can fuse the cig lighter to anything on ignition if not ill buy a fuse holder.

I got a badgeless grill off of here from a CP user i can't remember who though haha, as my one all the clips were broke and was shite!

And some untinted lights for the rear, as they were completely useless in the sunlight!

I rattle canned my bumpers satin black, reason for this the white surface kept dirt on, no matter how hard your scrubbed the bumper! :@.

A set of GT clocks went in too!

De-wipered the back.

Then about 3 -4 weeks ago i bought some 13x5 1/2J Revolutions from a user on here too!

For £120 i think? Bargain i thought! In good condition too!

Went and picked them up:

polo5.jpg

Well chuffed! But i then had to purchase a stud conversion for them as ' they were designed for nuts, and not bolts'? So that was £60 just on a sort of handfull of nuts and studs! Worth it though as it transforms the car alot i think!

The car as it stands today!

polo6.jpg

Polooo.jpg

And a photo of the bmx and roofbars on as well haha! Crap photo but you get the point!

Polo7.jpg

Plans for it still!

Go lower!

New tyres on the front, 165/55's so i can achieve lows.

Maybe seats out of the back?

Repaint the top of the roof, once i actually find the real paint code, as my friends bike kept catching the top of the car :@.

An engine service before the winter as the big ends are slightly groaning! - Even though the previous owner has apparently done all that to the engine we still think that some of that stuff has been improperly done!

A new windscreen or repair as i have two small chips in it atm! But not in drivers view so its all goood.

Take bumpstrips off

Maybe new front seats and doorcards?

Get a new header tank as the alloy one is crap i think personally!

Get the polo ready for MOT in a few months!

Can't really think of anything else really!

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Jake!

Not really much to update in these winter months haha, but will be doing a fair bit on the car over the winter!

Fitted a new thermostat uprated temperature so it will hold the temp more, might have to switch back to the 84c thermo in the summer though!

I now have a working heater - need a new header tank so if anyone has one i can have or have off them for cheap then PM me ;D.

Fitted a new rubber hanger for the mid box to hold on too, as i took my old one off as it stretched and after a few days my exhaust was on the floor :@, and obliterated the old U-clamp and had sparks coming off it at night :L so replaced that with a brand spanking new one.

Was working on the car with Dad while it was running and he caught the dizzy and knocked it off catching the rotor arm and shredding it 'peg' that it hold onto. So had to get a new one from his works 20 miles away haha!

Uhmm to come in the new week or so:

Wheels are getting balanced on Wednesday and maybe purchasing some part worn 165/65's for the front and some more lowering stick action.

Jake :)

Soo my mirror got raped tonight! Just as i almost parked by, my mate in his car opened his door on! :@ So it shattered my mirror off. So off to the scrappy tomorrow, good in a sort of way because then i can look for a header tank, engine cowling/cover, glovebox front, centre console and a drivers side mirror :). And going to get a paint match for my car tomorrow too! Car was resprayed in apparently in ' diamond white' but i bought a can of it and no where near the colour! So get a can and start sorting out the paintwork if i can before the winter, and get them bloody rub strips off hah!

Updates and pics tomorrow hopefully!

Now mate if you cant find the bits ley me no got most of them bits and can post them for you
