Harry's 6n Polo - 20VT Conversion & Smooth Bay

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So I've been on here for a while now and thought its about time I started up a Build thread. I have gone quite far with the car since I've got it so I am giving you all the updates at once.

Some of you may have seen the car at the Polo Show, Players etc.....and am Friends with quite a few of you on FB :)

Specs When Bought the Car back in April/May time

- Polo 1.4 16V AFH

- Milaege when I bought the car was on 140,000 but the guy I bought it off said Engine had been changed and was around 70,000ish. I got almost a whole spare engine with the car as well.

- Coilovers down about 100mm when I bought

- Leather VR6 Heated Seats (Not Wired up)

- BBS Wheels

- On Steels when I bought the car as the BBS tyres were bold.

- ECU has been Chipped - RR Printout of 123bhp - everything bog standard so was pretty impressed.

And of Course LOTS of RUST

The pics are of how I basically bought the car - it went in the Bodyshop in approx July (when pics were taken)

I had the BBS Wheels re-furbed and fitted with new Tyres.

I smoothed off the Front Bumper Myself while the car was in the Bodyshop and then was sprayed and fitted onto car.

So the car when out the bodyshop:

Car is down approx 100mm at moment but there was a bad knocking noise on the Front Drivers Side Suspension and found out it was leaking oil everywhere so got myself some BUDGET Coilovers.

post-30597-1290007986.jpg

So took my new Coilovers and car to VoodooMotorsport in Hemel Hempstead and they wound them right down for me 120mm (Well thats what the Coilovers said they go down to) Also they Cambered up the front for me.

VoodooMotorsport are very good at what they do and rate them highly. Very friendly people, go to lots of Dub meets, organise Photoshoots etc.

So Voodoo motorsport Photshoot pics:

Hosepipe keeps freezing so can't even jet wash it or anything!

Ahhhh I take it its going away for the color change? Haha sounds like the best thing to be driving in this type of weather! Not that we've had much near us anyway....

You have a build thread for the audi?

na man no build thread for the audi I'm afraid. but you will most definitely see the finished article next year :)

oh and any plans for the engine??

Hopefully :-) I take your going to first show of season, think its UD?

Hmmm that's a hard one Haha......I'm so so tempted to change it and probably will next year ;) but at the moment I'm concentrating on the Interior and getting it sat right because at moment its just 'Low' no stance at all!! Lol.

Havnt updated this in a while so got some pics of the Interior which I have been attempting to re-trim :)

Also the Rear Strut Brace which I forgot to mention.

I got this off the Group-Buy on here :) and then got it colour coded. It really does help the stiffness on the back and easy to fit.

Polo004.jpg

Headlining, Sunvisor mirrors, sunroof, door seals & Parcel Shelf etc have all been sprayed black instead of the light coloured grey which it was.

The A, B & C pillars have been re-trimmed in a Dark Red Vinyl Leather (Basically colour coded with car) - The C pillars I still have to do but will be done soon :)

Polo005.jpg

Polo003.jpg

In the pictures the SunRoof looks faded from black - its fine when your looking at it so I think its just the flash from the photos.

Polo002.jpg

Polo006.jpg

New wheels and 2 Tyres have arrived :) - Need the other 2 tyres then they will be going on the car at the End of February just before UD!

Looks quite nice!

Not too crazy about the body colored grille, but other than that, the car looks like its comin along real well ;)

Enjoy it!

Cheers Mate - Yeah I think I might change to a standard grill :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Thats cool how they pulled out the sill part, never seen that done before :)

How did you find covering/trimming the interior in the leather vinyl?

  • 2 weeks later...
  • Author

It was easy apart from the back 2 pieces on the inside of the boot which are a bit of a weird shape to cover.

Definately worth a go if you want to do yourself :)
