Picked this up yesterday, drove the 2 hours back home and then another 2 hours on to Uni, could not wipe the grin off my face, engine sound is incredible!

Few plans, really want a proper induction kit to open it up a little and definitely needs new wheels but insurance is a bit of a killer being 20 so that\'ll all have to wait till June :/

Definitely, nearly 3x the power for starters! :unibrow:

The interior is pretty pimp too, cream heated leather seats, walnut detailing, need to do a proper photo sesh soon, gotta pikey a DSLR off someone

Genuine sunglasses holder, genuine headlight protectors, rear aero wiper and a set of osram night breakers all ordered today.

On the look out for any OEM goodies at the moment, don't suppose anyone knows which vw in dash 6cd changer would work with a Gamma radio? Want to upgrade from the changer in the boot!

I think you can move it to the glove box with some re-wiring? (iirc) I saw something like that on uk-mkIVs a while ago.....

looked at a couple of these before i bought my cupra, they sound epic!

Its got the heated leather seats, adjustable lumbar support etc, wouldn't have minded a set of recaros though!

The sound is amazing, trouble is its killing the mpg as it really starts to sound good over 4k...

Really want the oem fitment k&n induction kit but might just get a panel filter for now

Awesome! Think I would've gone for a PD150 on a student budget though haha... still, can't beat the sound of a nice V6 :-D

Haha this is true, fuels going to be a killer but its been worth it so far

Spent most of yesterday chasing a certain red rx8 along some b roads... you seen Jim's new car yet?

Edited by AMD_Man

how can you afford a 2.8 v6 with insurance, fuel, etc... while at uni? :S very nice though, if you like wood on your interior that is :p

  • Author

Insurance is pretty good, should be under £900 come the renewal in June, 4 years NCB + being 21

As for how I can afford fuel, part time job quite simply, reduced my hours a lot lately but was earning £170 a week last term, not the greatest job in the world but it fuels the car!

Haha, first thing my sister said was that the interior was pretty "grandad"ish but I think it's kinda pimp, the 4 motion logo on the gearstick has worn off, looked for a new one on eBay - £65

I have to say that the exhaust note on that thing is awesome, it was putting the rotary buzz to shame...

I haven't yet! Keen to though... I'll catch him in Summer I expect...

The first of many parcels expected over the next month or so came today :D

There'll probably be some pics of the rex kicking around soon once I get the hang of my new camera. I'd do a build thread on here but I'm not a paid member ;)

You don't have to be a paid member!

Need to clean up that interior though, the rear seats are sinful....

Went to UD yesterday and picked up some stickers, was tempted to get a Goodridge braided brakeline set from Demontweeks as well but lack of funds stopped this from ever happening :( Maybe next month!

Finally got some pictures of the bulbs fitted though, looks so much better with the white light

The Heko wind deflectors arrived today along with a K&N performance panel filter and an oil filter, deflectors went straight on and should get the K&N bits fitted in the next couple of days :)

Got a delock kit in LC9Z for the passenger door on the way along with a nice shiny set of new TT pedals from eBay

Had a bit of a spending spree recently...

Few OEM bits, comfort indicator retrofit kit, TT pedal covers and 6 CD in-dash changer, hopefully get a chance to fit them all later today!

Also got an OEM sunglasses holder and a dead pedal / foot rest and on the way from eBay which should match the TT pedals, might need to modify it a little as I want it to look OEM - couldn't seem to find an OEM alternative in RHD.

Easter break from University now so when I get a chance can finally treat her to a full valet clean when i get home (I dislike living in a house with no off road parking or on road parking anywhere near by), Wash, Clay bar, wash, dry, polish, wax, vacuum interior, clean and treat leather, clean plastics, degrease and clean engine bay. Should make a huge difference! :)

nice mate hsame not polo but nice

get it slammed then some nice simple wheels and your laughing :) or if you have loads of money get it slammed on air ride!!!

  • Author

Well I had a 6N Polo for over 3 years so have done my time as it were, may well end up coming back to the polo scene when it becomes time to get a bit more sensible as far as fuel cost goes! haha

Wheels definitely on the cards for a few months time - need to see what my insurance comes through at first, not looking forward to that letter at all...

Thinking of staying VAG so either R32s, GTi Annis, or RS8s, failing that I do have a soft spot for BBS CHs :D

Fitted the TT pedals and matching foot rest, took a while to get the foot rest right and I'm really in two minds about whether to keep it but it's gonna stay for now, let me know what you think!

Also cleaned under the bonnet for what could well be the first time in many years...

Bang! and the dirt is gone...

Sweet! Love these!

Small update!

Finally got round to fitting my komfortblinker module... Struggled to get the terminals out of the switch connector so re-wired the retrofit loom and attacked the car with scotch locks.. end result is I can easily unplug the komfortblinker loom if I want to remove it at a later date [:)]

Half way through fitting one of my housemates rang asking for a lift... cue this picture:
