Quite impressed the guy knew that...i know a few mechanics who do that but theyve been in the trade years :) i think you need to make sure your honest with people coming to buy your car these days as they are becoming more and more clued up

wtf would taste the oil your supposed to smell it if anything

the question is how much oil do you have to drink before you can tell the difference between good oil and bad oil?

i get why he's tasting the oil but for it to taste 'wrong' it would have to contaminated to a point you would notice it just by looking and if the coolant system was filled with water he wouldn't be able to taste it anyway.

tasting and smelling the coolant is another matter as you can tell if it has antifreeze and at what strength, weak suggests that it has been topped up with water and that it may be loosing coolant.
