For sale is my MK4 golf 1.8t gti - AGU engine (big valve head so better for tuning).

Had it since may this year, and decided to get myself a T4 instead but never got round to selling the golf.

Its a red 5 door, 115,000 miles as far as I can remember on an S reg.

Will come with 12 Months MOT and 6 Months tax.

Drives very well, engine pulls hard and the gearbox is smooth. Nice quick car, with a few relatively cheap mods could be running anywhere from 200bhp+.

All round electric windows

Recaro seats with side airbags

4 Motion wheels - new tyres on front and very good tread on rear

4 Cupholders

Air con

Trip computer including MPG

Power steering

ABS

Insurance is pretty cheap on it, as its got the KO3 turbo as opposed to the KO3s on the later models the insurance seems to be cheaper, I'm 19 and it was costing me £1400 a year to insure.

Looking for £1895 for it with fresh tax and MOT.

Passed an MOT on friday, no advisories. Over the last week it has had new rear discs and pads, the front calipers servicing, new rear ABS sensor, New Anti roll bar bushes, new drop links and a new battery. I did all this work with the intention of keeping it after the MOT but then found out that it's gonna cost me £50 a month more to insure than it used to for some reason.

Also got the mileage wrong, its on 112,000 rather than the 115,000 that I stated previously.

Dropping the price to £1695 as i need it gone and the van gone so that I can get something else.

Sorry about the dust in the pics, as its sat in a bodyshop all the time as soon as I clean it off it gets dusty again.

A rover 200 more fun to drive than a mk4 golf with the Agu engine?? Have to disagree with that one.

I've owned both mate, I'm guessing you haven't.

If you had then you would know that it is much more than a Rover 200 - styling, suspension and steering geommetry improvements created a much more focussed, involving driving experience than a mk4 golf ever was.

Yes, it was based on an ageing Rover design but was purposely designed to look and feel sporty, more like a mk1/2 golf gti (which I have also owned) than a mk4.

Unfortunately, the ignorance that you have displayed is part of the reason that MGR went bust - let me guess your next comment - how many head gaskets has it gone through?!!

Dont get me wrong, I've been a golf man since I started driving 12 years ago but my MG is far more focussed than any of the mk3 or 4 golfs that I have owned and doesnt deserve the reputation that people who have never owned one have given it.

I've driven one of the 105bhp ones and it was the most uninspiring thing I've ever driven. They have a severe lack of power and the styling both inside and out is not what you would call pretty.

I admit a mk4 golf isn't an inspiring car to drive but once on coilovers and with a remap it would be much more fun and look better too.

I think its quite powerful for a 1.4 and revs round to about 8K which is alot but everyone has there own opinion and if it didnt suit you then thats cool.

If I decide to sell it then I will probably be in touch about your mk4.

Yes I have owned several rovers in my early years, sorry disagree. Anyway let's not fall out my opinion is a vw is much better than a rover.
