I bought some wheels from this member on the 24th of January 2012. He had sold many items from the forum and he sounded genuine when I called him. I paid £475 via bank transfer on the 24th. On the 27th I received this message:

"Hello mate I'm really sorry writing to you but i got broke into my garage last night and all my tools my familys bikes my two set of wheels and some other staff got stolen :@ and I'm gonna have to pay the money back into your account wich I'm really sorry for leting you down but I'm not happy either and soonest i can pay you back is either i pay you by bits thro next few days or all in when i get paid in 2 weeks get back to me when you recive this"

I felt bad for the guy and said I would happily wait 2 weeks for him to get the money together.

I then sent him a message on the 1st of February asking if I could have a specific date that he would pay me, to which he replied saying he wouldn't be paid until the 24th (a bit longer than 2 weeks as he previously stated).

I needed the money and I saw him selling other items on the forum, he also spent the money he owed me on a new car for himself.

On the 24th of February he then said he was waiting for his pay cheque to clear. I told him I would be informing the forum moderators to stop this from happening to anyone else, to which he replied:

"dude i lost job, i had to give my parents wich i owned as well, and i even sellin the car now to get some money and get you the money and I'm getin my cheque from previous work cleared out , i cant jump thro things can i jeez"

I said I could understand him having problems but he never informed me of them, he just came up with excuses when I chased him up. 25th February:

"i understand mate, and in week i can try organise 200 to give you and than as soon as the man will pick up my van i will give you the rest , i dont want you to be waiting and getin angry or thinkin I'm tryin mug you off as i wanna give you this money back as soon too as i dont like owning people money even to my parents so I'm tryin my best sorry for the trouble"

What a surprise, a week on and.. nothing!

He then said on the 28th of Feb, he got taken to court about the poke on his car and got fined £350 and had to move out his parents house. I will get to the bank on Thursday and pay you £200. He said he sold his caddy van (advertised on here) and it was being collected on the 7th of March so he would pay me back in full.

5th March, he paid £100 back, not quite what we agreed, along with more awful excuses.

"will have more by the weekend"

weekend comes

"waiting for money to come into account, will pay Monday"

Today:

"waiting for money to transfer from my paypal account"

7 weeks on and I'm £375 down; money that I desperately need, that mattty has bought himself a nice car with. I would suggest everyone stays clear of mattty! Also, if anyone has his address and home phone number that would be great, thanks

I think he must be running out of excuses!

Sorry to hear your trouble with this crook.

Club Lupo have introduced strict new sales rules and a new 'classifieds' system to combat people like this.

Well done for pointing him out - hope you get things sorted.

I would suggest printing your evidence and heading to a small claims court.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice. HE IS STILL ADVERTISING ITEMS ON THE FORUM!! He is from the Reading area, and currently drives a red caddy van, registration: RV52KXF. I have his full name, date of birth, bank details, and mobile number.

I am currently looking to get a small debt collection agency involved, and will be notifying the Police when I have his full address.

Thanks!

well i have messaged him and he gives the same shit of "i as sorted out a refund"

just get small claim rolling as i dont think he has any intention of refunding you

Could always give him a visit? Reading is local oviously not to beat the shit out of him but to see if it's genuine

.. Or beat the shit out of him

ha that actually made me chuckle, in my head i always hope that things like that do actually go on.

Its all good giving the sob story, but end of day you have someone elses money, does anyone still actually get paid by cheque?????

ask him for a crime reference number for the robbery too, i bet my balls he does not have one...

Thanks for the advice guys! I will PM people who were interested in the parts he had for sale, but does anyone know of his address? Thanks again!

he said this to me:

"he recived 100 pound last week and this week hes getin anoter 100 i mean to doit friday but i had the money for him on my paypal and i transfered it on friday and it takes 3 workin days to transfer over to my account . Thats why i was late with the friday payment that we agreed with him I'm doing my best i can do mate"

so as far as i read that you should get another £100 tomorrow?

lets put a small wager on weather this actually happens, i will send you £1 of my own money if you get £100 from him, as outlined above, tomorrow.

Yeh man go visit him.

A bloke conned my mate out of £500. We managed to get some internet geek to run an IP address and got his full address, what school he went to etc (don't ask how!) so we paid him a visit.

Let's just say there was £500 back in his bank account the next day lol.

I bought a smoothed bootlid off him a year back and collected it from his work in Reading. Seemed a genuine guy so cant imagine he's making it all up? Dont get me wrong, its still not on not refunding you fully, but sure it'll be sorted.

Would pay him a visit but just want to make sure it's not a mis understanding

looking back at his old posts he does appear to be genuine. just sounds like he has got himself in a big hole and is struggling to get out of it.

At the end of the day, he shouldn't have spent money that wasn't his though, regardless of what was stolen etc..... the money should still have been in his bank account!

exactly as above, and the fact the OP has been so patient and friendly with him, its just a piss take

IMO though i would have driven from Bath to Reading just to make sure i wanted to give him £500 for those wheels. Still not right though fanying about with your money, where did it go in 3 days?!

The fraudster isn't even trying to defend himself in this thread - or explaining himself if there is a genuine reason.

Shows the absolute lack or respect. I'd pay him a visit mate if I were you.

In fact I'd get the location of his work from the dude who went there and embarrass the fuck out of him.

I know its all gone weird and piss take but that time when i sold the wheels all money from parts and wheels went towards new car , and after 2 weeks i lost my job for nearly 4 weeks need i got in few debts and my friend and till i got new job and got my first money it took long ajd I'm slowly getin up on feet and i know jsellick is patient enough and hes been waiting for the money long enough and last week i paid him some money and this week I'm going as well and I'm tryin to pay him off weekly to have this sorted as thats best as i can do and I'm really sorry to havin this situation and all shit but I'm slowly getin hes money back , people who ever were in my situation would understand but nvm He Will Get Hes Money Back.

Sounds like he's blown it on booze!!

Sounds like he's blown it on booze!!

And that's probably why he didn't comment until now.

Well, it's really nothing to do with me but I hate seeing people cheated/scammed/robbed whatever.

If this Matty guy is trying to get clean, fair play. If he's paying back as fast as he honestly can, fair play.

Hope it's resolved soon for those involved.

Good luck OP.

wahoo its wednesday, funds will have cleared? yes?

Dknigth that was just your 11,111 post  lol yeah I hate seeing people getting scammed it happened just last here I was scammed out of £500 pound ( which I never seen again ) for a 6n2 gti front end after it happened I was so down and pissed of about it I just wanted to give up and forget about my project but slowly gatherd up the parts again costing me more and more money

Really hope you get sorted buddy

ha that is a fair few posts, and each one is delightful :D

thing is there is a clear difference between someone who purposefully goes out to scam someone, and in this case it is not, just a a bad line of circumstances.

Does not excuse the situation tho, it just looks badly handled. When people look for pity it is straight away doomed, the guy does sound like he intends on paying you back, but his pockets do seem to be full of excuses, my £1 paypal payment is all ready to be sent tho, I'm just waiting for that conformation :D

I'll give you a quid too Jamie, if he does give you the next £100. If a load of other people do the same you might get your money back
