So, my mk2 saloon has the "premium" window rubbers front and back with a "Chrome" plastic strip running around the inside.

I've removed the old, corroded chrome strip in the hope that slotting the new one in would be nice and easy.

How wrong I was. I can't get it back in no matter what I try. I'm now angry. And wet (it was raining).

So... has anyone here done such a thing before, and if so - what's the trick?

Major kudos to anyone with the "right" answer (one that doesn't involve removing the window!).

(If the ONLY answer is to remove the window first, please let me down gently).

if there is a will there is a way now :), i had the same witth my classic mini what you do is stick it in a bucket of boiling hot water, and i do mean boiling kettle hot, then itll be nice and soft, then you need a little tool like this one

start at the bottom in the middle and work your way around

then when your finished boil the kettle again and make yourself a good cuppa grab a biscuit and admire your loverly work

Worked a treat.

Used WD40 to lubricate the rubber and then used the tool to get it in as per the video.

WD40 cleaned off easily with bog standard window cleaner.
