My Polo Gt

Featured Replies

Engine: Standard

Suspension: Standard

Brakes: Standard

Wheels and tyres: Speedline wheels (please tell me the name if you know them)

Exterior: Standard

Interior: Standard

ICE/Security: Standard

That's the state it's in right now I have major plans to make to this car.

Engine: GT (3F) with 1.6 bottom end hybrid, ppp Ecu chip, 4-2-1 manifold, s/s exhaust, 268 cam, golf gti AFM, ported&polished throttle body's. (I have changed my mind, i am going to leave the GT standard till i have enough dough for a g conversion)

Suspension: coilovers, 60/40 drop.

Brakes: G40 brakes, brembo discs and pads (maybe rear disc conversion)

Wheels and tyres: OZ Turbine 15" 7j w/ stretched tyres

Exterior: Full respray, pressed plates, clear indies and repeaters, refurb all trim, debadged grille.

Interior: Corrado seats, alcantara headlining, all grey bits changed to black.

ICE/Security: Parrot asteroid head unit, 1200w alpine sub, alpine amp, tweeters, door speakers and rear 6x9s

So that's my list of things to buy and fit, I will have the wheels on soon and the speedlines up for sale.

I aim to get this car to a nice spec and keep it for as long as i can so it will be done properly, no cowboy builders here :)

So this is the story with the car, i used to see it everyday on my way to work, one day i walked past and took a good look at it, put the number plate in on mycarcheck and lord knows its a gt. after seeing this i decided it must be mine, the dude that owned it before me obviously didnt care too much about it and left it on his drive unattended for 2.5 years with no upkeep to it at all. i purchased it (with a giant smile on my face) for £225, gave it a full service and a good clean and here i am so far.

BIG PLANS

Ok here is the car before i got it:

What do you guys think of the wheels?

Edited by dmacz220

Damn son! Awfully shiny :)

Get it low.

  • Author

Thanks mike, thats my next objective get some lows, how much do you think i should lower it?? also i would like some advice on the arches; would i have to pull them or do you think i could get away with some major stretch if so what tyres would i need to do that. The wheels are 15x7j ET12. what are my options??

Sham

id go with 165/50 's or even 155's and lower 70mm all round. Looking good mate can wait to see it with tyres and lowered.

I Must say I don't agree with this, in terms of lowering that is.

People buy kits that drop 70mm all round and the front always seems to be only 30mm lower than standard whereas the back of the car is on its arse. I reckon the stance you get from a 60/40 kit is hard to beat.

You could definitely get away with stretched tyres.

The only problem is I'm not sure if the tyre's will stretch as the sidewalls seem quite stiff????

Please reply if you have had this problem...

Sham

The tyres on the left are the same bridgestones you have 165/50/15 on a 7j rim all be it they are bald but gives you a rough idea
