Early Mk2 Saloon - TAX AND TEST!

Featured Replies

I bought this to raid some parts off and generally rape for spares. I'm an enthusiast way before a breaker though, and it's solid in all the right places and runs really sweet. If I can help it, this car doesn't deserve to die, so I'm putting it up for sale. The price takes into consideration what I can make breaking it.

The poor thing's a bit bashed and dented, so you've either got the choice of put the time and effort into the bodywork (certainly cost effective at this price), or rat it.

If it goes for the asking price, I'll throw in a trolley dash through my parts heap for any parts you might need to do her up.

£475

Make: VW

Model: Polo Classic CL (1093cc)

Year/Reg: 1982 - FVX 396Y

Mileage: 74848

MOT: 17/2/2013

Tax: 1/2/2013

Good points: Runs sweet. Stubby bumpers. Square lights. Bonnet trim. Mirror blank. Solid. Manual choke.

Bad points: Exhaust blows (think it's manifold to downpipe). It looks like it's had a rough life of late. Dented passenger wing and door. Poor paint on the rear wing. Rear bumper pushed in. Driver's seat worn. Top fill rad.

Location: Calverton, near Nottingham

I think the MOT's March, but I didn't get the certificate with it, so I'm getting a reprint done in the week.

I'll do some pics of the rear end in a bit. From memory, I'd say it's in pretty uniformly about an inch. It looks worse becuse the bumper irons crumpled (clever 1970's Germans thinking of these things). I think there's a coupe rear bumper in my parts heap you can have with it. If there isn't, there's a late saloon one, but it needs clipping back together (plastic's off the iron).

The boot floor's still true, but there's a ripple in each rear quarter that's probably related. It'd be a straightforward pull with a jig if you know a bodyshop that doesn't mind a quick cash job. Or if it were me doing it for myself. I'd take my chances and pull it out with a couple of straps.

get a heatgun on those bumpers! will look 10x better dude!

hi mate very very interested, hopefully its still up for grabs , ill most likley buy it but just want to speak over the phone could you send me your number please mate

I'd offer to swap an E34 530i se manual but don't fancy the fuel cost driving down to swap. Glwts, car looks awesome.

Can't get my head round these new rules, didn't realise I had to wait for the V5 before I could check my MOT

Expiry date:

17/02/2013

And it's also still taxed til Feb :o

If it doesn't sell this weekend, it's getting a red wing and door on and I'm rocking it about over winter.
