Am sure this has been asked, got 1.4 6n polo with knackered DKF box and can get an EQW from a 1.0 cheap.. What's the difference etc? Ta

The 1 litre boxes tend to have closer ratios which means they feel a bit quicker but won't be faster due to reduced top speed capability.

EQW is considerably and progressively lower gearing than a DKF - equating to approx 25% lower gearing overall.

Like 1st is only a little lower due to the final drive being a 40 instead of the DKF's 38 with the 085s all sharing the same 1st ratio, but then the ratios go lower and closer ratio as Nick says - so 2nd is lower still, 3rd even shorter, and by the time you get to 5th you're at 38:1 instead of 28:1, which is a huge increase in revs at 70mph.
