I would say wait and opt in for coilovers , and while the strut is off. see if the top mounts need attention

You can get cheap coilovers for i think olike £170? - and the FKs which in my personal opinion are better for £215 give or take

if it doesnt sit right with just springs , tough luck your stuck!

Are the cheap coilovers still good? And do they affect the ride of the car?

they won't be any better or worse than using a cheap set of lowering springs and shocks. I'm also looking into fitting a budget lowering kit to my 9n too. For me spending £400+ on a more expensive set just isn't worthwhile, as the car is just a daily hack and i'd rather spend my hard earned on my g40 and mx5.

The conclusion I have come to is that there are 3 viable options

1. keep the std dampers and fit a set of eibach lowering springs. good quality, but lowering will be limited to around 30mm (not a problem for me, as I don't intend to lower much more than this anyway if I do decide to do it)

2. buy the fk budget coilovers

3. buy the jom budget coilovers which are slightly softer sprung than the fks

The ride should be reasonable provided you don't slam it, remove the helper springs etc. Any car slammed to the ground is going to have an uncomfortable ride. heavy lowering and comfort just don't mix

I will probabaly end up buying the eibach lowered springs or the fk coilovers

coilys all day, i bet if you got springs you will want coilovers a week later

yeah that is probably true but whats the difference apart from being able to adjust coilovers.
