Hi all...

Fitted some rear coilovers on the lowest setting (because thats how i received them) but the damper rod and top mount rubbers move up and down when i bounce the car. I cant tighten the top mount down any more because there isnt enough thread on the damper rod.

Any one have any idea what the problem is?

Rubber mounts worn or missing?

If I remember right the 6n had the top mount then a nut then a metal washer then another nut. Did you swap all the mounts over correctly and put everything back?

nope the rubber mounts look like they're in pretty good shape and all present. I kept everything in the correct order and referenced the haynes manual to double check... then triple check haha. I cant think of any logical solution to this problem... do people drive around with their rears slammed and the damper rods essentially free floating?

I had this on my 6n2, I think it's because they sometimes use the same rear dampers for other cars (mk2 golf) that what I guessing anyways, only way to sort it is to remake or mod the spacer.. That sits on top of the top cap hope this helps

Thanks for your help guys... still not sorted but got everything off the car and laid out.

about the spacers - I cut an old spacer in half and put it on top of the original one and then the bolt that locks them down and this stopped the movement. But then there was little to no room for the top rubber mount which meant that it was just floating an inch or two about the recess in the body... so it wasnt doing its job properly.

All sorted, it was a spacer issue guys thanks for your help
