This is my blue GT bought as a restoration project depending on how far the damage reached. It had been rearended and then laid up for a year on driveway.

the rest of the arch kit was inside the car which was good. underneath the whole back is badly rotted along with the rear arches and parts of the sills.

whilst looking over the engine i discovered this

no the best news but it might not be terminal, will have the head off today and have a look

What a shed. If you get that back on the road then your talented. It's a part car if you can get anything worth saving of it. It look like someone has pained the bottom half in black at some point.

I'd reshell it into an mk2 coupe, would make a nice little car :)

well wasn't able to get the head off today. I stripped induction and inlet which took a while as it was all on solid. took the rocker cover off which had to be levered off with a screwdriver. the rocker gsket was solid like plastic. I cut the cam belt too, missing 34 teeth in a row from a 108t belt

work on the van prevented me getting it done. The car won't see the road again, its too far gone. i'll build it into my black coup and sell on the spares to pay for an engine refurb.

they'll be a full interior, arch kit and factory metal sunroof going along with bonnet and doors and other bits

That looks like it might have the wrong sort of waterpump for that cambelt?

OK,

the results are in, double K.O!

the valve head snapped off completely and there is a chip in the seat so it looks liek the head is scrap and so is the piston

there looked to be a new head gasket and inlet gasket along with new coolent so some work was done recently.

Performance VW if the engine had been in good order i'd probably have taken you up on that

a bit more progress, the engine is now out

Just to finish this thread off

The shell got scrapped, still got the bonnet doors and roof

The block and head was sold, the multipoint injection went to the blck coup along with the rear beam and the rest of the parts went to repair my other black GT
