Haven't been on here for a while as I have had other vee dubs and not a polo!

I had a 6 n2 1.4 Match and a 6 n before that. I have always longed for a GTi and have fell in love with the new Polo GTi.

I looked around for a 6n2 GTi, but couldn't find one that was cared for enough or they were too pricy.

So, this morning, I ordered my brand new Polo GTi in Flash red! Got to wait 3 months to take delivery, but so excited!

As I haven't been on here for a while, I am not cure what folks views are on the new one, but I am hoping I will be welcome at the meets etc?!

A mate of mine has a 2014 Polo GTI in Tornado Red, awesome car! I love the interior.

Is yours the model with both a Turbo and Supercharger? Not sure which TSI setup the new ones use.

What’s powering the new Volkswagen Polo GTI?

An evolution of the 1.8-litre ‘EA888’ turbocharged petrol unit VW has been developing for some years. It features many new technological developments including a combination of direct and indirect fuel injection (to provide optimal efficiency in all conditions), variable valve timing and an electric actuator for the turbocharger’s wastegate, meaning it’s controlled very accurately, minimising turbo-lag and improving driveability.

In this application it makes 190bhp, but here’s where it gets interesting: the torque output – and so the engine’s character – depends on your gearbox choice.

That’s right: unlike last time there’s a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. However, since the seven-speed twin-clutch DSG isn’t capable of withstanding as much torque as the six-speed self-shifter, Volkswagen had to re-map the torque delivery so you get less twist, but for longer. In this case the manual car has 236lb ft between 1450 and 4500rpm, whereas the DSG has 184lb ft available between 1250 and 5300rpm.

Going by those torque figures why would anyone go for the DSG? A difference of 52lb/ft is surely going to be pretty noticeable if you were to put the two cars head to head.

Plus you will probably spend most of your time below 4500rpm anyway.

I also hear the sport pack has a feature where it pumps fake engine noise into the cabin......

I opted for the manual, as I agree that it will pull more and more fun!

As for the rumour of fake engine noise, VWs claim is that it is the actual sound of the engine put through the speakers in the car, so not so much of a 'fake' noise but an amplification of the actual noise. Either way, I don't care, I just know that the sports package has the more precise chassis and electromechanical steering. It's as closely matched to the WRC rally world champion car as you can get and did I tell you...........I am sooooooooooo excited! The 3 month build time can't go quick enough for me!

Just checked on build time and my car should be being built 1st week of June! Reckon it should be in the uk by last week of June! Can't wait!

So the GTi has a larger engine that the polo r (which is a 1.4t isn't it?) I thought the R's were meant to be the 'top' of the line?

I just know I have always wanted a GTi polo so as much as I like the R, I am just loving the little GTi! Bias I know!

R on a polo is a trim level iirc.
GTI is still the quicker of the polos.

I'd be peeing my pants constantly whilst waiting for a brand new car to be built for me haha.

Either way, nice choice. I'm torn between a new golf or a new polo when the oil burner eventually dies. However, as b-shaw says, I'd be scared to drive it too!

Scared? Not me lol! Can't wait! Although I think the power will scare passengers! Hehe!

Not because of the power but because it not want it scratched by myself or other idiots. Plus my car gets used like a van atm and it'd be ruined in weeks!
