Hi guys,

My 3 door 2004 9N Polo only has central locking and I want to use a key fob with it. I've been reading a few threads on here regarding remote central locking. I read that #6Q0959433E (http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg209/scaled.php?server=209&filename=poloecu.jpg&res=landing) had been used to replace the comfort control module on a 9N, but upon inspection of the one installed in my car the parts are a different shape and it wouldn't fit.

I have found the same part numbers ending in A, B, C etc. but I have no idea which have remote central locking or if they are even compatible with my car.

I was hoping it would be as simple as an upgradable plug and play, I don't have the patience to fit a different shaped one or the experience to wire it in. If anyone can help, I would like the know the following:

1. Is there a CCM that is the same shape as my old one, with the addition of remote central locking? If so, where can I get one? (part number if possible)

2. If there is such a part, what frequency fob will I need to buy? (again, part number would be grand)

3. My car is a 3 door, if I buy one that comes from another 3 door car, can I avoid programming labour? How Can I be sure it comes from a 3 door?

4. Anything else I need to know, or let me know if I am completely wasting my time with this pipe dream!!!!

I can't find the information I need to start this job so any help would be much appreciated.

That the wrong part your looking at. That's the can bus controller (afaik)

The 433e is the right part, doesn't matter if it's from a 4 door as yours is a 3 door.

You have to move the seat all the way back, and almost lay down in the footwell with your head under the dash. There is a plastic heater pipe running across which I think is held on with either a clip or a screw, remove it. The unit is sitting just above the pipe on a little shelf type bracket. I remember I broke mine because I moved it the wrong way. I'm fairly certain you have to slide it backwards and pull away from the metal support holding it. If it breaks it's not the end of the world just hold it back in place with some cable ties.

Unplug the old one and plug in the new one. There will be a connector or two without anything to plug in, this is for the interior monitoring and alarm.

Also, as the part above has a part number ending in 433X it will use a normal VW remote that operates at 433 MHz so not the expensive Audi type remotes.

The units will usually have 2 tuer or 4 tuer written on them, but as I said above it doesn't matter as yours has 2 doors, which means if you got one from a 4 door it would be sending the locking signal to the no existent rear doors. The problem only exists when you have a 4 door and a unit from a 2 door as it won't lock the rear doors. Front doors and boot will always be the same.

When I did mine I just plugged it in and tried it and it worked perfectly so didn't bother with the coding etc. the coding would tell the unit what type of car you have, what region, which side the driver sits, whether it has a sunroof power folding mirrors or puddle lights etc and what type or alarm is fitted. Chances are this unit would be fitted to a similar type of vehicle so 9/10 this coding would be very close.

I have a key that works at 433 MHz so I'm good to use it with the above part number?

Found it, right buggar to get out and managed to slide it out without breaking the brackets. I would never have found it if you hadn't said!

I'm not sure on the part numbers, but if that's the same one as in the guide on here (FAQ section) then it will work.

Do you already have that unit? If so just plug it in and see if it works.
