Right I'm no expert from an ICE perspective and any advice would be welcomed.

All materials were already available in my wood workshop. I hate using MDF because

it is hellish for your lungs when machining so I used a piece of ply and some pine lying around.

I cut everything with a jigsaw and a bandsaw plus only really used router for rounding edges.

If i was needing a rebate in the rings(didn't think these particular speakers needed them)

I probably would have made them with the router.

Then I used standard car filler to shape the pods. I probably should of used something with

a fibre in it but hey no cost and don't like filler sitting around a cold workshop. This was all

easily shaped with sand paper.

Covering I had lying around from a guitar pedal case I made. Just black vinyl I got in a

supplier in Glasgow who supply stuff for Taxi interiors. I used evo stick contact adhesive and

carefully heated the vinyl up with heat gun to make plyable.The pods were glued and

screwed from the back, used six screws per pod. I thought the grills looked ugly

when I got them but realised they look like iron crosses which I might spray black.

Cops won't see them lol

There was a hole left where the adjustable mirror joystick was(I've put the old style mirrors on)

which as you can see is now where the tweeter is. The angle is adjustable too.

Anyway thats about it, nowhere near actually getting them in the car really need to get an amp.

Oh and some questions:-

Is this a good amp to use with these speakers? I'm trying to stay Blaupunkt is that stupid?

Does that Flash band stuff (for roofing) work like dynamat? because I'm trying to pay nothing

for this install.

Could I spray the cloth on the card with satin black car spray (I've heard of this from somewhere)

or is it shit, should I use specific fabric spray?

Also should I open out the hole into the door area more? like into door cavaty which could create

dampness problems. I have a whole load of cavaty wax in there which I can't put sound proofing

onto... anyway sorry for my ramblings...

Nice work mate! Looks damn good, I was gona go for all Blaupunkt but there aint much of a selection about in the UK is there?! I read that lots of layers of duct tape over eachother work a bit as soundproofing lol. Fabric needs to be dyed not painted, paint hardens and will crack with flexing, I've got black dye (cant remember who, may have been Autoglym) for dying fabrics black. A mate poured a bottle from his work (valeting) and gave it to me. Try looking for fabric dyes from the likes of Autoglym, or just good old Google!

birch ply is the weapon of choise for speaker baffles, i shouldnt think you will notice the difference thought.

throw a couple of sheets of sound deadening on the doors.

it'll make a world of difference!

Yes, birch ply would make sense for baffles.

I've put a bit of flashband roofing repair tar/foil stuff on the door card round where the speaker will be, might add a bit more if i can be bothered. Further down the line when I have an amp I'll do more thorough sound proofing with that sludge and something like dynamat.

I might track down some fabric dye at some point, think i'll probably leave it for stock.

I'm going to drill holes for gromets in the door jam for speaker wire. will need to take doors off. Never thought installing speakers would involve so much...

You don't need to take the doors off there should be two holes in the doors already. Then drill holes in the body opposite.

Looks good, I did it the pikey way with £5 plastic pods. I lined them with flashing tape, they sound ok not amazing but it didn't take much time to do...
