Yup, we all suffer with this and now the sun's started shining I really want my window working!!

Can anyone list or comment on the common issues and the solution please?!

Basically, the switch is ok (having replaced it!), just the window won't budge. Can hear motor hum, electrical conections all ok, anyone got an idea?!

Na mate sorry, think the members on that forum have had same problem with the vid. But it's a good thread with regards to advice and troubleshooting.

list pretty much every problem going! Pity VW can't sort it before selling them!

6n's are 10years old plus so not a bad run before theres problems

alrite what you need to do is remove the door card an tap the motor with a hammer whist usin switch to bring it down if this works then thatl buy u sum more time b4 you have to buy a new motor as these usaly stick an sieze inside the motor its self if not then itl b the mechanism cable messed up so new window requlator neeedid an can b a pain to ereplace if you dont no how an an xpert at them as always failing on the golf passats etc .

Jimmy6N good point! They last well, forget mine's 11/12! for some bizarre reason I've found that simply removing the door card etc and wiggling everything gives me another month or so of use! Going to remove it all soon and get some WD40 on everything, double check a few bits.

punch the door card really hard a few times , just below the grab handle, and keep pressing down on the button.

On my old T plate 6N (last of the MK 4) my electric window on the paasenger side stopped working after a rainy day or just washing!!

The switch would click the engine power would drop but window wouldn't work, i guess once it dried out it worked fine because the water would drip onto it from the window seal that runs along the bottom fo the glass

I did squirt WD40 on the motor and it worked, but slamming the door once, also made it work just the same, weird eh!!

When i checked my one, the cable that allows the window to slide up and down was torn ripped and completly buggered. Got a whole brand new mechanism for £60. Best way to check it take the door card off and check everything.
