My Mk4 6n

Featured Replies

just signed up as a full member, so thought id show you how my 6n beasty is coming on :-D

Model: Polo 6n CL

Engine: 1.6 8v, K&N 57i induction kit relocated with samco hosing and cold air feed, sports backbox, polished rocker cover

Suspension: TA technix coilovers

Brakes: standard

Wheels and Tyres: 13" sport raiders (came with the car!)

Exterior Styling: clear front indicators, badgeless grill, euro pressed plates

Interior Styling: standard

ICE and Security: standard alarm, and mutant headunit

Comments/Future Plans: bought the car from an auction in sept, had it for about 1-2 weeks before the thermostat seized up (got told it was common on polo's at around 85-90k miles). got that fixed. then gearbox started playing uyp, found out i needed new clutch so spent £80 on a new one, only to find my gearbox was on its way out aswell! :x . anyway, got it all sorted now, suppose its worth the money to get her goign again :D

Future plans are to get more money to spend on it! would like to get some nice new wheels for it, a stainless manifold and some more silicon hosing for the engine bay. but due to me moving out into student house soon, and having another two years at uni I'm taking it steady for the time being, will see how funds are after uni and you never know, an engine transplant might be a possibility :D

first started modifying the car about a month of having it, first fitted a new backbox, then clear front indicators and i sprayed the grill black (couldnt afford a badgeless one at the time  )

cheers matey!!

the most recent addition to the pistacio power - custom induction kit, made up from sections of samco hosing and aluminium pipe bought off www.rallydesign.co.uk. mainly did this to relocate the air filter (as silly vw designed it so the filter origionally sat ontop of the engine where no decent amount of cold air can get) plus i think it looks pretty cool!

before you ask, i know the engine bay needs a clean  and i also want to get a bit more samco hosing and a stainless manifold but i'll have to wait till i can afford them!

i love that induction kit set-up.

looks savage.

might have to look into that, as that kind of set-up is what I'm after, although i was going to do it with a single alloy pipe, as my local powerflow makes them.

after seeing yours tho. i would buzz off that!!

top work mate.

what sizes are all the pipes you used, as i wouldnt mind pricing that all up, and then find out how much an alloy one would cost.

cheers

most of the pipes were 51mm i think matey, but as yours is a valver the bore might be different so dont quote me on it lol. rough price for it all was £60-70, but thats genuine samco stuff and alloy pipe off the website.

anyway, another pic of the car;

Hi, new to the forum and just thought that I'd say I'm hugely inspired by your car. I'm picking up a pistachio 1.4 16v 3dr on saturday if all goes well, and looking forward to trying out the subtle look, similar to what you've gone for.

Looking good man.

looking sweet mate!!! really loving the subtle look

can you tell me tho, have you had any arch work done?? how low you sitting??

ooo, i didnt think vw did a pistachio 16v. lol, good luck with the car matey if you wanna know where to get any of the stuff i have from just ask :)

just remember though, for the subtle look its the smaller simple things that make the most/best difference. all thats been done to the exterior of mine is the lowering, all-round debadging, pressed plates and clear indicators. should look a lot better when i finally remove those black rub strips off the side.

thanks bud :) and no, i haven't had any arch work done at all! I'm not sure exactly how low its sat, but the fronts are wound as low as they can go with the helper springs still in and it doesnt scrub at all! i dont have much room left between tyre and inner arch at full lock though, but then again i do have chunky tyres on. i parked next to a standard 6n the other day to get some sort of indication of how much lower i was, but they left before i could try and measure it

thanks for the rest of the nice comments too people :-D

so far things haven't gone great and I've got to pick it up sometime during the week instead hopefully. I'm pretty sure it's pistachio, as soon as I get it I'll stick some pics up to make sure! Totally agree on the subtlety, all I'll do to start with is swap some dished wheels on that I have floating about, debadge, take the strips off and lower it about 40mm. Should improve it a lot :)

I'll no doubt give you a message when i've got it, cheers.
