Saf, its just the barrels I'm thinking of doing in black chrome. Dishes will be polished still.

Centers are of course going orange lol.

Sad times Jake, these had been for sale for ages, you aren't looking hard enough

Managed to split 2 fully and one half today but then had to go to work. Hoped to do the others after work but ended up going to the pub instead.

The one is being a pig to split though, had it in the oven and still wont go :(

Others, the dishes came off easy, centers split from the barrels after some abuse from the heat gun and a knife to the sealer.

Hopefully have um split and cleaned up tomorrow.

Just cover the centre with a cloth or rag and support the barrel/dish or whatever its stuck to, and then just beat the living SHIT out of it with the rubber mallet. You gotta get MEDIEVIL on that shit. I mean, to the point where you might worry you'll break something. You won't. And it will come apart

Don't bother with the oven ;)

Got the last wheel to split today :D Abused it with some wood.

But before i did that (good job i couldn't get it apart easily or I'd have just gone and done it without checking) i test fitted the rear 8" to see if there was another half " clearance at the back for when i make them to 8.5"

Will be literally bang on, the stretch will clear it perfectly.

Realized just how much the drums stand out, so when the baskets go off to get powder-coated, so will the drums to match i think.

Wish it was now i was re-furbishing the calipers as i could get them done too. Cant be bothered to strip them down so they can be coated now though. Will stay silver.

That was the c*nt, it took some bloody abuse to split though. I'd have never done it with just the mallet.

Started cleaning them up, got all the sealer off the dishes and started with the faces.

Some just rubbed off by hand (the two front ones) but the rears for some reason took some effort. So i got the fudge wheel out. Fucking love it right now

A before and after kinda pic

DSC00860.jpg

Started to clean all the split bolts too, its been dead easy so far, A'll I've had to do is this..

Coke or vinegar are the best way to get all the crap off them apparently. Went for coke as i didn't fancy the smell of vinegar in the house/on the bolts/on the wheels as it seems to linger for ever.

Should'v seen how much it fizzed, and then how it continued to bubble away for like well over n hour after. The amount of crap floating on the surface is shocking already.

Toothpaste and a toothbrush is next for them, Will leave them in the coke for a while though.

7.5 is gonna pokeee

Nahh it doesnt too bad dude.

They sit perfect, I'll try and find a pic of them on Bretts G. The offsets are ideal.

Does require some butchering of the caliper though. Bit wary of it but they were OK on Bretts for the time he had them on.

:ninja:

haha, no, i do need them.

May be making an appearence sooner than id hoped too.

Looked at the calendar earlier to find a good weekend to get people round and drop the engine in. And realized i have 2 paydays before Action, the show i was hoping to get to. It was my target 'on the road' date.

Not a fucking chance in hell, unless i win the lottery.

So, might get coilies before it goes back on the road. Cant be fucked to rush finishing it now. leisurely pace and get it perfect 1st time.

Yeah i wouldnt rush it, what's the point. You opened the box's yet lol?

Looking good up to now!

lol, i did plan to start stripping it yesterday but mother was nag nag nag nag to cut the grass and stuff. Garden was like the rainforest in all fairness.

So no, its still in a sealed box in the garage

Decided to go with a mild steel exhaust system too rather than a stainless.

I much prefer a deeper exhaust note, doesnt last as long but will sound better.

That's not true, stainless 304/316 will sound better with it being a denser material, its all about resonation. But yeah you should be fine with a mild steel one, just get it painted up in something rust proof.

just make sure it dont get hot like ollys and strip the paint off itand turn white!

I'm so fucking happy its unbelievable :D :D

Its far from perfect, few marks from me not getting some dents perfect etc. But other than that, the finish is amazing

The paint has came out better then I though. Its metallic satin. AMAZING. Steel blue basecoat with satin laquer

The tutor at college did the final coat of laquer. i did the 3 basecoats and 1st laquer. I'm shocked at how well I've done it tbh. considering i haven't had that much practise and jumped in at the deep end and done an entire car.

My was my arm aching after though

Anyway, I need a beer

And another...

But lets face it, none of you expected one

All i can say is, I've put Hundreds of pounds into in the past 12 months, and its still a way off yet haha. Its getting close though, few more months :)

So so so glad i decided to stop playing with the breadvan.

Wolverhampton council & this picture can be thanked for that

P9032202.jpg

To make it kinda worthwhile... a incy update haha

Bonrath air intake arrived today :D Wont lie, i fecking love my rare shit

Also spunked £100 in the sales on audio stuff, managed to get sub, box, amp, wiring kit, speakers for the door pods for £97 posted. Nothing amazing, but it will do for what i want.

So when is this going to come back out of the garage then? Any sort of time frame?

  • Author

I have a week off work February 24th

By then, i should (will) have everything i need to get it rolling again and hopefully drop the engine in.

So, weather permitting (been as i now have to do it outside my house on the road) it should look more like a car again at the end of said week.

I was hoping for Springfest/Early Edition to be back on the road. But being realistic we are looking at May/June.

Simular time line to me dude,

The race is on!

I've got a lot to do though

Off Domodick? You got spare pistons? lol

just 1.4 16v on carbs, nout special. Just wanna use what I've got to get it back on the road. It should be built pretty soon, after having to blow near £90 on a cambelt kit :o

Cost just builds up when you need to replace shit.

Max, wasn't aimed at you.. more so Ben lol.

Maybe 1 day it will get a G. I'd love to, really would

But, id rather buy a Porsche for the same money it'd cost to G this
