Not over winter, the ally cats will be ready to go on when the crap weather has gone.

Picked up some VWII Callipers and a euro spec rear light (without white reverse light) today off Dan (Renegade) :D

Gotta get the callipers refurbed at some point but might get the light fitted tomorrow :)

Callipers really have seen better days haha.

So, i finally have a more perminant (but still temporary) fix on the exhaust problem

It consists of two 'phat' jubilee clips and a lack of rubber

It vibrates to hell at certain revs because the hangers are hitting eachother. BUT its higher up than ever and I'll sort the knocking out when it annoys me enough to have another look at wedging some rubber in-between them.

Check it oooottt.....

Anddd, the Euro spec light is on. Reversing into the garage is a complete c*nt as it just lights the exhaust smoke up instead of the garage. And people dont realise I'm trying to reverse as they think its a fog light lmao!

But, it looks good.

Random cool shot (showing how much better the new reflector is )

And a photo my mate took at the cleaned-uk meet last Sunday.

Hopefully will be a few more small updates before the mids mega meet on Wednesday :)

WIN!!

LHD rear lights clean up the back end so much on mk3s. Its usually one of the first thing I do when I get one

tht exhaust bodge is shokin tobes lol

Lol, end of the day though if it works then fair play lol! It looked really tidy at the Cleaned meet dude :)

yea but for how long, I'm on my way round now to cut it off :D

longer tha the cable ties that where holding it on previously lol....

Needs a new bracket as it just bends and the rubbers fall off. And if I'm getting a full stainless at some point that doesnt use those mounts, i dont see the point in fixing it. We all know its a massive design fault on VW's part lol. Probably on better now than it ever has been lol.

more shizz to be happening tomorrow :)

did your mate take any other photos?

The lockless handles are now ready to go on in the morning :D

Few pics that may help others that want to do this.

The MK2 rear golf handles don't work with the MK3, the catch that actually opens the door thingy fouls and just gets stuck (so you cant open the door from the outside, I know from experience  )

So, what you have to do is swap them round, to do this you have to use a punch or something alike and knock the pin out that's holding it in place and swap it with the ones off the MK3 handles.

I used some MK2(polo) handles as I had a set off the MK2(polo) knocking about. I'm guessing they are the same (hoping lol, cba to do it again) and swapped with them.

You can see the pin quite clearly in this pic..

DSC00084.jpg

It takes a bit of doing but eventually comes out.

And this is a pic of both MK3 polo handle (right) and MK2 golf handle (left)

DSC00085.jpg

Looks like it would work the same, but it doesn't.

If the MK2(polo) ones aren't the same, I'll update tomorrow  then you shall know not to do what I have just done haha.

Tried the cats on the back today to see what spacer's id be needing

Going with 5mm up front (so they clear the calipers) then i could get away with 20mm at the back but I'm going with 15mm to keep it more in proportion.

DSC00124.jpg

DSC00125.jpg

DSC00126.jpg

They sit just in the arch, 15mm should bring them pretty much in line with the arch, 20 would give a tad poke i reckon but thats not my cuppa.

Will be getting normal spacers up front then the rears will be Hub spacers form PPS

The only thing I'm scared of with the cats is the arch gap that I'm going to get. But i dont want big tires.

Going with yoko 165/55's wich are pretty small. The car will be lower but the arch gap will be bigger lol. Not going any lower as it will just be stupid.

Front spacers are proving to be more expensive than the rear hub spacers. Which is a bit gay tbh.

Cant be fucked with painting them lol.

I'll be using the paint on the subframe and other things ;)

I had to go TV shopping with my aunt :|

However, i armed myself with cheap paintbrushes (for the nitromors) and erm, well thats about it

Managed to give 2 of them a good clean, getting all the shyt from the inside of the wheel so i can get them stripped.

Clean the other 2 tomorrow and get the tires taken off. by the time I've done that I'll have work though :(

Tuesday at college should hopefully see at least 2 of them fully stripped. Maybe even all of them if i have time (3 hours in a nice warm unit, hmmmm) lol

teardrops,nice!

i´ve had those rims, but sold it. 2 big for my mk3 imho :D

I tell you, VW know how to make there wheels pretty much indestructible.

I've spent hours on the biggers and i still don't have a single one fully stripped :@

Anyway, heres a few pics of um so far.

And one of Brett doing his smoors

DSC00185.jpg

I wish the paint on the drops was coming off as well as it is on those smoors.

I'm on a mission though, tomorrow i WILL have one fully stripped down

Cold times today mate lol. You had a slack day to be fair, not even 1 wheel done tut tut

GeeeeTeeeee rear beam

DSC00191.jpg

I'd been having a blond moment for a week or so. I have this grinder attachment for brining off paint etc without damaging the metal too much. I even was talking about it to Brett in the garages on Sunday. But it took till yesterday when i was at college till it clicked 'why the fuck haven't i been using that on the wheels.

Anyway, it took less than 5 mins to get it looking like this :D

DSC00192.jpg

Still needs another go with it round the edges n whatnot. But my god is it quicker and easier than bloody paint stripper

Will have the rest done tomorrow, got work now :(

i must admit, you did look like you were struggling with the wheels when i popped down haha.

Man, why didnt i click on and say to use this, fully rolling now though looking sweet.

haha you nube b-shaw.

liking both sets of wheels though man.
