So. The paint is stratos blue or something along those lines.

Anywaaaay.

After having a good think about satin paint i think I'm going to go ahead with it.

But. what colour should I go for? I'm not sure how satin paint works so I'll have to ask the tutor at college about it.

I've been looking on google again and found a whole load more pictures of satin cars.

the choices I've knocked it down to are as follows

Purple

Burgundy

(same car but it looks different colours)

Battleship grey

ORRRR keep it exactly the same colour just in satin. But again I'm not sure how satin works/is made so got to ask about it all 1st.

Grrr. I'm eager to find out how satin paint works now.

Mines metallic so I don't think I could have that in satin. but I don't know.

So id need to find another blue that isn't satin and then get the code for it.

Keeping it blue saves hassle with telling the DVLA and everything I suppose

Spent all day today cleaning the inside of the polo. After viewing the MK2 loon :p

Got some sticker's in. Had them ages, glad to finally get some of them in the car

Got rid of some crappy alarm stickers too, it doesn't even have an alarm

After spending hours cleaning it its still not as good as it can be, going to finish tomorrow I think. Seats need a bit of a clean after abusing them with stuff whilst working on the car.

Bonus for today.. Got given these beasties.

There awesome

There really long at the top so there's no chance of shooting off the end and fucking you're sills up.

And they aren't at all steep, so getting the car up them when lowered should still be easily possible.

CHECK IT OUUUTTT!!!!

The car is all blue.... for the 1st time in what, 6 months? haha

Not the best (its really crap tbh) finish but at least its all one colour (ish)

The Stratos blue paint is actually rather similar. Just a little darker.

Gearbox time tomorrow :D

Should feel like a different car by Friday :)

Oh and in the last picture are the BBS that I might be getting on the MK3 golf :D

Gotta ring up tomorrow as the tutor forgot to ask about them last week.

Tyres are huuuge though  Will do for temps/winters though. Got plenty of tread on them too.

are you going to go over it or just leave it like that for now??

if you have time blast the whole car over, i would lend a hand but I'm only free saturday

woo looking cool will pop round take a look tommorow.

Hope gearbox work goes all good and we dont have any problems on way down this time

I'm not walking :-p

Leaving it like that for now.

Its just to protect the primed bits really or it would end up like after winter, rust under the primer.

There are still a few little rust spots that need sorting out but think its best left until I strip the car for the respray.

Getting there wasn't the problem. It broke on the way back at those damn services  Corely services are cursed

Interested in how you get on with the satin paint and if you can get a finish with good protection like a proper two pack process.

Those ramps are immense, did you buy them off Mr T. lol

Really impressed with this. Reading this has made me feel so lazy!! Steel Blue polos ftw :) Especially impressed with what you've done with the wheels. Very innovative. Steel Blue with a satin effect would look immense. If it's possible, do it!!

So. The paint is stratos blue or something along those lines.

your paint is more likely to be medium blue, its similar to stratos but not quite the same

Nah, they aren't Sam's bonbill

you can kinda see in this pic wich colour is wich

DSC00771.jpg

Front of the car is untouched, then the door is halfords mix of steel blue, then heading towards the back it slowly fades into Stratos blue.

Actually looks rather cool if it wasn't for the edges where I taped it up.

Edit: the light in the pic makes the colour difference very blatant. In person to the eye its not that obv.

Started work on refurbishing the RA's today.

Given up already and thats just with cleaning them

There are waaaayyy too many fiddly bits on them, it would be a real pain when sanding, painting, sanding again, painting again etc.

I've thought long and hard (about 5 mins) and decided to get them done properly.

At £45 a wheel I get them stripped, all kerbing sorted, powder coated in whatever colour, new valves then the new tires fitted and balanced.

Will cost around £100 ish more than if i was doing them BUT for the amount of time its going to take me if i did them.. Its worth that £100

The place doing them also said they will beat any price I find on any tire . I know what tires I'm after, roughly £145 for proxes all round, if they can beat that I'll be amazed!

You can use almost any colour when going for matt paintwork mate you just add an agent to the paint ...

How about Matt colour with a flake to it ???

SOOO...

New waterpump/cambelt/fanbelt fitted and all good (minus the fake supercharger noise )

Had a good tinker with the exhaust and got it much higher up (twisted the midbox so bracket was lower, was really high for some reason). Needed some new rubbers so ordered genuine VW ones :p, collected them today.

80/60 kit + lowering topcaps paid for today :D :D :D

Speaker pods turned up few days ago, Need a bit of work sanding and filling) then covering in something special. Need to find a joke material for them.

Just a bit stuck atm

Do I go with poly bushes all round or do I just get standard rubbers from VW?

Contemplating getting a GT rear beam too but again, not sure on weather its worth it.

Need to find a joke material for them.

The labels off beer bottles? If you soak them in hot water or something to get them off cleanly? Looking good tho dude, i like
