dont forget the fact that i dont think thats a set!! and you have to buy the vernier pulleys too...so an extra couple of hundred on top of that plus a remap =O equals way too expensive but i still want some for my hybrid

Remap wont be needed, but i bet getting the carbs set up will cost more than a re-map anyway

tbh, i think i should step away from the cams. asif 140bhp (ish) isn't enough

I'm still ringing newman to see if they do them any cheaper. If i can half the price of the catcams one i think its a done deal.

mines a mk4 hybrid running standard injection setup.

yeah, martins right, i contacted autosprint in birmingham about getting a set of afh cams reground and he quoted me around £180 for the pair, he also offered the possibility of making a set of solid inserts for the lifters and the highest lift possible reground cams for around £300, although he said i would have to send him part of the valvetrain first to see weather he can convert to solid lifter

Tyre size should be ok (i normally run 185/55x14) would of thought you'd need a wider wheel, mine are 6j

A cheaper option on the wheels may be vauxhall astra mk2 gte alloys, look very similar but with centre caps

I'm going to see what compomotive do, they only list 5.5 on there site.

Also, with how low i am it could cause problems.

My rears already rub with the 13's on (with standard G40 size tyres, i forget the numbers. 165/65 maybe?) when i have a bit of weight in there.

Also, offsets are custom with compos, so i could have a slightly lower offset to give it a bit more width. Not that i need to mind.

ye, £180 is a very good price, go onto the autosprint website and get the guys email address, really sound guy to talk to and will help you out, he does alot of work on vauxhall redtop engines etc

afh engines have hydraulic lifters, converting to solid lifters allows for higher revs dependent on the strength of the rest of the engine and the ability of better reground cam profiles. have a read on the web about regrinding cams and solid lifters and youll come to understand in the end
